Yesterday I downloaded and installed DM6. All seemed to fine. This morning I went to retrieve some pictures from the internal memory on the phone and found I cannot access it. Roxio is not there anymore. I need these pictures as they pertain to some damage to my car. How can I get them from my phone to my computer to print them, it used to be so easy.
I had the old version of the Desktop Manager, and I went to update it and now have the v6.0.... but I also have over 50-60 photos on my internal memory that are invisible to the new media mananger... and no way in hell am I sitting and moving them one-by-one onto the memory card!
Under Pictures, Device Pictures, click the drop down and choose All Device Pictures.
Make sure you specify the Import Folder to a local folder on your PC.
Make sure Mass Storage Mode is enabled before you connect it to the PC.
Choose the detail view, and connect the device. Once it scans it should show you your pictures provided Windows has assigned a drive letter to the media card.
That should work, although since mass storage mode is on you should be able to see the pictures in Windows Explorer.
[edit] I connected a couple of older devices and if they don't support showing the internal memory as a mass storage mode device, it doesn't work. You may have to downgrade, move your media to a card, then upgrade back to version 6.[/edit]

Wrangler, your solution only shows pictures on the SD card. The question here is how to view pictures that are stored locally on the Blackberry. I have also noticed that local media is not included in the list. Generally this is not a problem for me though since I keep everything on the SD card. However, I can see how some people might want to access local storage particularly if they don't have an SD card. RIM needs to modify the program so it will read from either/both - perhaps with a some sort of selection dropdown or check boxes.

I tested it with a few models, and it does work for models 9800, 9700, 9550, and 9000 that show their onboard storage (not the MicroSD card) as a mass storage device - ie it shows up as a drive letter in windows. With the models I mentioned (probably some others), the DM shows the files with their respective drive letters in the list view. The trick is knowing which drive letter is the card and which is the onboard.
The 8830, 8100 and 7290 I had on hand last night don't do this, so it's a limitation of both the device and the new desktop manager.
Honestly, I wouldn't be switching to DM 6.0 yet unless you had to for device support, or at least until you move your media to a card, or RIM issues an update or workaround to address the onboard storage issue.
If I get a chance to try it with an 8900 I will, but I have to call RIM about adjusting the installer for 6.0 so we can exclude all the media manager functions, auto updates and a couple other things, since all that's restricted in our workplace. It seems they changed all the parameters from 5.01 and lower so they don't work anymore.
In the meantime, I'm also going to package 5.01 since it works with the 9800, so we can allow a couple high profile users to have one and be able to synch.
Fun Fact - DM 4.7 blows up really well when you try to use it with a 9800. :p
My device has an SD card with photos on that show up just fine in the media manager. However when I got the 9700 I didn't have an SD card so the photos I was taking were being stored to the device memory. Now they're being stored on the SD card. I have mass storage enabled.
Only the SD card shows up in My Computer, and in media manager.
Your PC may not be assigning a drive letter properly. Happens a lot if you have card readers or network drives using the first few drive letters.
If you right click on My Computer (Computer in Win 7), then choose Manage, then go to Disk Management. What you should see is a listing of the drives Windows can see connected to your PC.
I'm guessing that the onboard storage on your 9700 isn't being assigned a drive letter.
If you right click on it, it should give you the option to assign a drive letter; make sure you don't choose one that's in use. Y or Z should typically be available.
Also, when you connect your BB, do you see two prompts for your password? I'm pretty sure if you don't enter it at both prompts, only one (the card reader) is visible to Windows.
