It might make a nice internet only device with the wifi. I just can't see myself using this with my PDA.

Based off their Treo history, this thing will prob fail and cause a lot of headaches.

I can definately see a use there- carrying it around will be the pain-that is why we use PDA's. It is a neat idea though. New paradigm for sure

There has been many comparison talks at palminfocenter, engadget and gizmodo today. I tend to agree that I don't see the NEW category that Hawkins continues to proclaim. A 5 hour battery life only on a device that does less than a laptop. My Dell 12" lasts 5 hours and doesn't weigh much to carry. I think the market is smaller than the LifeDrive market for Palm.

Hmm. That's really all I have to say. Talk about putting some apples in an unexpected basket. This is one of the dumbest ideas I've EVER heard of from such a large company, to be perfectly honest. I think Palm should really just give up hardware and focus on the Treo line (which they pay HTC to do, go figure).

I'm surprised that they don't focus on the Treo and forget everything else. The new Blackberry's are going to kill the bulky heavy Treo line this year. Their handhelds haven't been updated since 2005. What about that category of their business? Palm appears to me that they are not focused on their business but focused on selling to the highest bidder. Because that's all I read about them these days.

I will say that this product is not for me and Palm has lost their way a little but I think there is a place for such a product.

As PDAs get better and roll into more and more hands to replace laptops there is going to be a need to view presentations etc on a larger screen. They make mention in the presentation that this will be available for non-palm devices also.

Maybe this is a product for a few years from now and it will develop and grow into a new segment to replace the laptop as your PDA becomes extreamly capable. The Palm Pilot was before its time too and now look at the PDA market.

All I'm saying is that I think there will be a need for this type of product if you look down the line to a Super powerful PDA that you sometimes just need a larger screen and Keyboard for.

I was a Palm user for years but I do not even consider them anymore for a PDA option- they have lost that battle and do not seem interested in improving there.

If the price came down maybe more people would be interested. Let's wait until the hacking community gets their hands on it. They might create a feature that changes our minds.
