Default Windows 7 & BlackBerry Sync Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I downloaded the drivers and the desktop software from the BlackBerry website and I installed them correctly. I have also changed the settings on the device so that mass storage is enabled. However, when I connect my Tour to the computer - absolutely nothing happens?

I don't see how I can get this working and I would be grateful for any help.

Thank you!

Need more information please. What do you mean "absolutely nothing happens"? Are you connecting tothe PC via a HUB? Des the PC recognize the BB?

What version of Outlook are you running? There is an issue with Outlook 2010 64 bit version.

Hi,

I am connecting the phone via the USB cable straight into my ThinkPad laptop, nothing comes up - no new hardware found, nothing in the BlackBerry desktop software. However, via Bluetooth the phones comes up but the software asks to use the cable.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 and I use Office 2007, Outlook 2007 is my default email client.

Thank you.

Couple things to try.

- a different cable.
- launch Blackberry Desktop Manager as administrator. (right mouse click, "run as administrator")

Right! I will try both. I have actually uninstalled the software as that was something I thought might make a difference when I reinstall it. Would it matter what order I install the software? Drivers first, then desktop suite or either way would bring the same results?

Thank you.

Someone correct if I'm wrong, but I thought the Desktop Manager software installs the needed drivers for the device. So it shouldn't be a separate install

Make sure you run the installer for DM as Administrator.

Ok I will install the desktop software now. And run the file as administrator! I will use the latest version of the software from the Blackberry website.

Reinstalled the software as administrator, running the software as administrator and still no sign of the phone connecting to the computer. I even have two cables!

:(

I just tried using the older version, Version 5 which is the one that came with the phone. Yet still, nothing happens when I plug the phone into the computer. The phone's screen comes on but then the computer does nothing.

This is really annoying as I am stuck and I really would be grateful for any help! Thank you!

I've been running this same setup with no problems. Windows 7 (64-bit) on a ThinkPad T60p, but with Outlook 2010. I recommend deleting BlackBerry Desktop Manager completely and then re-installing from scratch. Use the very latest version (6.0.2). You may need to configure DM to use the specific USB port to which you're connecting.

Ok I have done a system restore to start again, I will download the latest version and run the installation and the program as an administrator. Also, how do I set up the software to use a specific USB port? I don't know how to work out which one is which. My ThinkPad is the L412 and has 3 ports.

I really appreciate your time and help everyone.

I had to select different ports in the software until I got a connection, but then it was golden. Is there an option to "auto-detect" the comm port?

Ok I am now trying all 3 USB ports. The test is that I connect the phone and wait 2 minutes to see if anything happens with the software running.

Port 1: Nothing.
Port 2: Nothing.
Port 3: Nothing.

The only thing that happened was the phone told me that the USB charging will not work for a reason about power? Do I have the right cable?

This is really annoying as I wanted to be able to sync music and photos quickly. This may not be relevant but I don't get the BIS until the 2nd June (Contract change over)

Please help!

Just tried to see if the phone did anything on a friends Vista laptop, it loaded and Windows said "Windows needs to install drivers for your BlackBerry"

That rules out the cable and the phone! But why can't the phone and the software work on this computer with Windows 7?!

I am starting to envy how well his phone sync's with iTunes :( This is so annoying as I don't know what to do!

I can't even send a photo via Bluetooth as the phone doesn't have services to do this!!! :( I am not sure if I just have a piece of junk or is this normal for a BlackBerry?! It doesn't do anything!
