The BlackBerry can already do that, sorta.
Go to Phone > Options > General Options > Auto Answer Call > Out of Holster.

Thanks for the reply.

The issue is I need to have a background application that upon getting the PhoneListener.incomingCall() event, answers the call regardless of any manual user intervention.

Whether a call is answered or not may depend on which call it is. Therefore, it cannot be an all or nothing and it needs to be programmatic.

Yes. Had it been supported by default, I would not be asking this forum or willing to pay for an answer available in the RIM Javadocs.

I believe the answer is to use the EventInjector to inject a ENTER or trackwheel click when there is an incoming call. I have tried this but it has not worked. If anyone got this to work, let me know and I will pay you for the answer.

There was an application called Berry Blocker which basically did what you are asking. Although it would automatically disconnect unwanted callers but I'm pretty sure it did it through keystroke injection. Perhaps see if you can contact the author.
Only issue is that by default the keystroke injection permission is set to deny so the users don't even get a prompt to allow it.
