Default Z10 and Active sync

Please Login to Remove!

I have had a z10 since last week and I have finally got BBM working after getting a new sim card from the carrier. But now I can't get active sync to work correctly.

It refuses to load any calendar entries, the emails load but after a while it stops working. The user currently has a bes 5 account activated, on his old device. The idea was to get the z10 working with active sync before we end his current device. But he has since gone back to his old device because active sync is not working correctly.

We have AS in use for other devices for a while and they are working ok. I even tried to set up our IT support account on the BB last week before i got the new sim and it synced all the calendar entries and AS for email seemed to work fine.

Any idea why it has decided to not sync calendar and emails stop syncing after 10 mins?

Exchange 2003 and z10.

Thanks for help.

I have been reading the forums and there appears to be a lot of people with problems with Z10 and syncing calendars, so wondering if it is a device problem?

I read another article and it said that calendar sync via AS is not supported by z10 and you have to use some non sense cloud email and outlook plugin to sync it all.

I don't see why they couldn't have just made z10 support bes 5, it realy could not have been too difficult and it would have made life a lot easier. From what I am aware the new BES is not even available yet...

BES 10 is available. I would get it if you plan to stick with BB10.

I thought it was only going to be available in march. Ok I checked last week and I could not even find a system requirements for it or any information. I am currently running a bes 5 and exchange 2003 environment soon to be 2010. I only just upgraded to bes 5, i know it is quite late.

I see the link has more information now, maybe i didnt see it, I will take a look at the documentation BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 - BES 10 - Mobile Device Management - US

Is it possible to have a old device on bes 5 and old server as well as on bes 10 and with new device ? same user having two devices?

Came in this morning and the active sync was working ok, so possibly just took a while to sync all the calendar items. But i think i will still look at setting up bes10.

That should be possible. I just did a setup of the BES10 on the weekend. Go into the Management studio console. Click on a user, click add device and, add a Z10. A user can have on device on the BES5, but, multiple devices on the BES10.

Great, the reason i ask is using that method users can try out the new z10 without having to deactivate their old device. Not that i can see many not opting for the z10, but we do have some realy old staff that might not get on with touch screen.

I have BES 10 and BES 5 running in our enterprise. If you had the user running on BES without removing them off the BES, and tried to get them up on Active Sync at the same time...it should not have worked.

You'd have to remove the user off the BES 1st then get them up using Active Sync. As far as BES10 goes, I can't find a way to NOT load BlackBerry Balance...which can be quite annoying. I'm thinking of removing myself off the BES and going to A/S only, to see if I can get rid of the workspace on the Z10. I can't even copy and paste from workspace to personal space on the Z10...and that's with NO IT policy restrictions on the BES.
