Since 'Live Search' hasn't worked in weeks, I would assume Microsoft is sticking with the Bing app instead. So, I downloaded on two different 8330's the Bing app with 32MB available in the phone and 7GB available on the microSDHC card. After the download, and the install, the Bing app runs a configuration to get it setup and when it hits about 28%, it reports back that there is not enough memory on the phone. It's clearly a bogus error but I can't figure out a way around it. I've searched online and can't find a specific thread regarding the Bing app not loading on the Blackberry. Anyone else experience this?

EDIT: Cancel that. I navigated around to the all services page, clicked on the dowloads link, then clicked on the link for Bing, and that took me to the Bing app download screen. Just successfully installed it.

Just tried it again and it failed. Maybe it worked for you because you're using a 9700? I'm still on an 8330 using OS v.4.5.0.138. I can't seem to find system requirements for the download. Funny thing is, even the pushed service book to install the Bing app will download the app but fail to install. It gets to 32% (actually) on the configuration setup screen and then gives me the same error each time - not enough memory in the phone, try moving files off the SD card which makes absolutely no sense at all. Oh well, I guess it's time to change phones down the line anyway except for the fact that RIM is taking forever to release newer BB's on Verizon!

I totally mangled my ealier post. When I first tried to download from the MSN Mobile page it wouldn't take me to the download page but instead took me to the mobile windows live page. I was thinking there was some problem and MS had pulled the download, and that might explain your problem. But then I navigated around and found another link, and that one took me to the download. So there went my theory. And I didn't make myself clear before.

But I agree. Maybe the problem is the download for your model, or something on your end.

If it were me -- for lack of a better idea -- I would backup and then try a security wipe w/ selection made to delete third party apps, and then try installing the Bing app before doing anything else. Next step would be to wipe the device, reinstall the OS, and then try again. Or just skip straight to the wipe and OS reinstall.

According to their page on BlackBerry App World, Bing requires OS 5 and above. So that could be the reason why you ran into the install issues.

Thanks! I think you nailed it down. It's pretty crazy how the carrier (Verizon) would still push a service book link to a device that falls out of its system requirements. Nobody thinks these days I guess!

Were you downloading from app world? Does it make any difference if you download from Bing.

I know I used the Bing app in the past on an 8820, on either 4.2 or 4.5, or both. Hard to believe MS really stopped supporting the older OS already.

I was downloading from the pushed service book browser link. I don't know if there is an older version still available out there or not but I'd love to find one that works with version 4.5.x.x or higher.
