Has anyone tried typing myver in their BBM? I did and it showed 5.0.0.8. I never tried that in previous versions. I just thought it was interesting.

Try a smaller file size as an avatar. Sometime (Mostly) bigger file sizes won't show up (size limit maybe?).

Correct me if i am wrong guys.
Our Blackberrys run on BIS (Blackberry Internet Service), this is what makes our internet/data work and also BBMessenger.
Sometimes/Most times, this service is down in many areas causing delays on bbmessages, email and applications?. Only leaving you with the choice for calls only.
This is the outage people are referring to.

I have 2 email accounts on my BIS. One is my personal gmail and one is my work email. the bbm was associating itself to my work account, which i definitely don't want! and if i hit cancel, it comes that it will wipe my contacts.
i haven't swapped my bb for a new one.

SMS not working after BBM 5.0 install???
I'm not sure if it is related or not, but after performing the procedure outlined on Pinstack to restore the Internet Browser (I did this so I could install BBM 5 OTA), I noticed three changes in the phone.
1. Internet Browser did indeed come back and works great!
2. I had two icons now under SETUP for EMAIL SETTINGS. One icons brings up the screen as it usually does. The other is really ugly and the text is somewhat garbled with Ascii-like text
3. My SMS text feature no longer works.
This was done while running OS 5.0.0.100 on my Bold with BBM 5. I'm wondering if the part of this procedure where the service books are manually installed from the zip file is what messed me up? I'd bet those service books are older than the ones my OS uses. Manually sending a request for service books from the phone doesn't cure it either.
I have downgraded to the .282 OS after doing a clean wipe, but the problem still remains. Once .282 was installed, I installed BBM 5 again but this time via the device manager instead of OTA.
The SMS still doesn't work though.
Any ideas to help me anyone? I really would hate to get rid of the BBM5, but SMS it pretty important to me.
Thanks in advance for any help you may have to offer!!

Correct me if i'm wrong, but bbm is part of your data plan and SMS is part of phone plan right? it doesn't need data.. so i'm confused how it stopped working? try downgrading back to bbm 4.6 and see if it works?

Mine was a complete failure. When I reverted back to the old edition, I had to reregister and do a battery pull because my BBM and PIN messages were not working. I'm okay now =)

You're right. Data runs BBM/PIN. MMS is part of your text package. 4.6 will work but you may need a couple of battery pulls and a few minutes to spare. I reloaded my .282 to get my old version back. It wasn't working at all. I reregistered, pulled the batter and gave her a soft reset. It is all up now.

Do a battery pull and reregister the phone.
SETTINGS - OPTIONS - ADVANCED OPTIONS - HOST ROUTING TABLE - REGISTER.
You may also want to resend the service books.

I'm having a problem...I just downloaded BBM 5.0 to my Tour, and now I can't find the icon on my phone. I checked the home screen (where it should be), the IM folder and still nothing. When I go to the application list in options, it lists BBM 5.0, but I can't find it!
Any help?

try re-registring it.. the post how to do it is right above yours..
after re-register do a batterypull..
if that doesn't work
backup your phone. delete BBM5.0
and try installing it via desktop.
and if that doesn't work revert back to 4.6

As a follow-up, here's the status of my BBM 5 adventure:
I tried all of the service book, re-registration, and battery pull tricks. Nothing would restore my SMS. So, I wiped the phone, reinstalled OS 5.100 and verified that SMS worked once again, which it did.
Then, installed BBM 5 via OTA and SMS immediately was DOA (haha - just wanted to use another acronym!). Damn.... Once again tried all the "tricks" and nothing would help, so......re-wipe and re-install OS 5. SMS worked....this time installed BBM 5 via DM. Sure enough SMS was broken. Once again, tried all the tricks and SMS would not return.
Next step was to repeat the above steps, but now with the .282 OS installed. Got the same results. No matter what I did on each OS I tried, SMS would stop functioning as soon as BBM 5 was installed on the device.
So, to make a long story short (too late, I know), I did a last wipe of the device and installed .282 and am using the version of BBM that comes with it. Everything works great, including SMS.
I really liked BBM 5 and I look forward to the next leak or official release. Until then though, I'm done with it.
Anyway....that's just my experience. It seems everyone is having very varied results. Good luck everyone.
