Your wife needs to determine her needs.

Web browser? iPhone
Dependable email? BB
etc. etc.

I can tell you that my bro started with a BB 8700G, went to a BB 8800, then iPhone. He didn't like it, sold it and picked up a BB 8320. He missed not having Instant Message apps on the iPhone.

I wouldn't count the iPhone out of the running just because your daughter is pushing it. There are a lot of good aspects about the iPhone and it all really depends on what your wife needs.

Honestly, the iPhone will probably provide far more bang for buck entertainment value than a BB would...

Just kick your daughter out for causing such a divide.

Just spoke today with a friend using IPhone. While he loves it for playing movies for his young daughter, he hates it when it comes to emails. He just cannot type emails with the touchscreen.

twenty-somethings can by that time be pretty smart. know-it-all I would usually use for a teenager. strange.

But either will work just fine, people have to take the time to get used to the touchscreen for typing then its great imo.

The main point of the iPhone verus Blackberry debate is what does your wife want more?

Functionality for mobile e-mail and corporate applications it's clearly a Blackberry, if it's flashy music, movies, games and internet browsing, then it's the iPhone, and typing anything, whether it be a sms, e-mail or typing in a phone number will suck at first, but as with anything else, it will come in time.

I have a 2G iPhone and haven't had any problems that the 3G users are having... Right now you can find them pretty cheap on ebay. Agree, it depends on what your wife wants and needs. I've been very happy with my iPhone, and for my needs (just personal) the email is great! It's like looking at it on the computer except simplified and easier to read - I never check it on the computer anymore..

I agree with JSanders-it all depends on which one meets your wife's needs the best.

Most carriers will let you "test drive" a handset for a short period of time. Maybe if she used them both for a few days, the chocie would be easier.
