Default Using USB on a Computer without Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

I put the Desktop manager installer on my SD card on my phone just incase I need to use the modem on a computer that isn't mine.

But when I plug my BB to a computer without the Desktop Manager I get a sign on my device saying insufficient charge or something to that matter. But I just ignored it and it never came up again.

Even still I'm able to access my files as a mass storage device. Is that bad for the phone to run it through USB without the software preinstalled?

Thanks

not sure it is bad for the phone (error message=bad of some sort). It is not charging your phone if that is part of your interest. You can do add the rim usb drivers (maybe you can put those on your card too). At least then you can charge your phone with out DM. there are two files you need, search for rim usb drivers on this site.

Well everything works fine. It charges and I can move files around just fine. But I get that message when the DM is not installed.

On a lot of PC's the system will provide power for a short time but without the driver it will power down the USB port after a short period of time. I'd recommend installing the driver. You can also get it from Blackberry.com.
