Default internet browser BB vs iPhone

Please Login to Remove!

I was curious, will the BB ever rival and compete with the iPhones browser? I was using the browser at the mac store today and it looks really good. I just can't deal with touchscreen keypad. I am a heavy emailer and need my physical keys.

Will it? Surely one day...

But for now try downloading Opera Mini.... and use that instead of the BB browser... it makes the web look more like the web...

Thanks for opera mini tip. Tried to download before and I had some trouble. Ill have to try again. I have an 8700 currently. I'm holding out and not getting the curve for the supposed 9000 series maybe. Depends if it will have no keyboard, etc.. Right now that is all speculation on what it will or will not have. Do people think that this 9000 series will have full web browsing with flash and streaming vids ?

I think it will be hard to beat the iPhone browser. Now, if iPhone gets flash because they are allowing 3rd party apps in Feb, then the iPhone browser will be perfect at that point.

Keep in mind RIM has never tried to release a product that can be everything for everyone. You need to evaulate what features you really need.

Agreed.
But for me the Iphone browser is great... just incredibly slow unless you are on wifi and I never am. Until they have 3g usage like my 8830 on EVDO the browser can be as pretty as it want but I won't be able to do anything of substance with it.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8130/4.3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

This is a little off-topic, but I'm interested to hear about your experiences regarding EVDO. I'm using Verizon, and while the downloading is fast, the "Requesting" stage takes a considerable amount of time to complete. I'm talking 30 seconds per page load. How instant are your page loads? I'm not very impressed so far.

Regarding the iPhone, I love its browser, and I only wish I could get a Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry with Verizon Wireless.

I doubt a BB browser will ever be the equal of the iPhone browser. Two different devices built with different purposes in mind. Will the iPhone ever be the equal of the BB for email? I doubt that too. One is a multimedia device with a phone, the other is an email communication device with a phone.

Keep in mind, for now, the limiting factor is the memory and processor of wireless devices. No handheld will take full advantage of a WiFi or other large connection.

I love apple and have an iMac at home along with several pc's. I hate the iPhone.

Who wants to surf the web on a phone anyhow? it's for short jaunts to do stuff you need/want to do. Web surfing is for a laptop or a home computer.

I'll take the Blackberry browser or Opera on a Blackberry over the iPhone web browser any day. I have an iPhone and a BB8800. The iPhone browser crashes almost constantly. Trying to instant message via the web is almost impossible because as soon as the iphone screen locks and you have to unlock it with your unlock code, all the web pages you had open have to reload.

Take my advice...don't believe the hype, and get a Blackberry.
