My delete and enter keys sound like that sometimes. Too many pointless e-mails from work I think.

Default "sticky" keyboard keys

This is my 2nd phone and both are haviong the same issue.

Is anyone else having problems with the keyboard where the keys sound like the back of them have sticky glue and when you press them it make that sound like you pulling off Scotch tape?

I saw some threads with keys coming off, but didn't see anyone with this "sticky"-back keys.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Nope, mine seems fine. You didn't spill anything sugar-y on the keyboard?

Default No spilling

Nothing spilled on the keyboard. Both brand new. Weird. The keys on this, as poitned out in many forums, are not very weel adhered to the phone.

seems like mine started off "sticky." but they've broken in. I guess the next step is for them to fall off!

Not sure what is causing the noise, but as I recall, no one has reported their "keys fell off."

The gossip was a link to "Engadget" [?] where the author took a hole punch and/or screwdriver to the keyboard to stretch the keys, to illustrate that the keys were glued on to a rubber membrane. Interestingly, in his illustration the keys did not fall off. They simply stretched.

We all commented how stupid that "test" was. Others also mentioned that most keyboards use "glue to rubber membrane" in the manufacturing process.

I've experienced similar issues with several 7250's and 7290's. The resolution is to disassemble the unit and clean the keyboard membrane with a light application of lighter fluid applied to a Q tip. Allow complete drying before reassembly. I found lighter fluid to work best as it will not leave a residue.

The plastic like keyboard membrane becomes "sticky" most likely from exposure to heat, ie from either being left in the car or positioned on the dashboard during a hot day.
