you know Apple selling that phone in over 50 countries now, and still growing. RIM in big trouble and if Apple out sales RIM again with blackberry coming out with 3 new phones it might be the beginning of the end for blackberry
Thanks for explaining that to Dallas, sometimes I think he gets so excited to slam the iphone that he forgets that he doesn't know much about it.

RIM has nothing to worry about, they are not losing many customers to apple. Apple is stealing from others like Palm and Moto, there have been studies to back that up.

And yes over 50 countries now selling the iphone, 20 more to be added by the end of the year.

I see a lot of people get excited by this type of news - but it's really no big deal as you say - sales in over 50 countries. You cannot extrapolate any kinds of trends from this.

The iPhone is new and hot right now just like the Moto Razer was. That's just my opinion though.

Why does this thread topic surprise anyone? Apple is a marketing juggernaut, something they have darn near mastered (college courses are based on their marketing practices), and have made 3G a household (albeit misunderstood) term. On the flipside, RIM is just a few months into their consumer marketing push here in the US, and have not released anything that can be deemed innovative in several months.

Again, I have to ask, where is the discussion and why is this even remotely surprising to anyone?

I hate the Motorola Razr with a passion:
  • Highest defect rate among my friends and acquaintances
  • Makes the stupid bloop-bloop-bloop sound that can propagate through an auditorium when you try to put it on silent. I think good phones are discreet.
  • Roommate misses a call in the middle of the night when I was trying to sleep. The phone beeps every 10 minutes or so.
So for Motorola, we have RAZR, KRZR, ROKR, RIZR... what's next? LOZR (pronounced "loser")?

Going back on topic, the reason why I suggested getting a breakdown of the number of devices still in service is because it not only provides a fair battleground for someone looking for a durable phone, but it also is a more fair metric to determine who truly has more market share.

dasun, we understand you point but no company has the number of units still in service.
even RIM cannot account for devices without BB data plans.

Simple enough for you?

Watch RIM's device sales on a quarterly basis. If they start to decline, that would mean RIM is in trouble.
I agree, I think Apple and BlackBerry are both fine given their sales demographics. No, I can't see every business folk going after the iPhone. No, I can't see everyone who doesn't need heavy-duty business phones going after BlackBerry....

Personally, I think it's kind of silly and pointless to argue about which phone is the "best" (seriously, no offense intended) because it is just such a subjective personal preference.
