Question OS 6 on Verizion

Please Login to Remove!

When will Verizion have new Blackberrys with OS 6 on the shelves like AT&T and T-Mobile? Why are they always last?

Verizon should have the 9650 on the shelf with OS 6.

Just looked at their web site. No Blackberry's with OS 6. Upgrade software only on the Bold or Curve only. WTF? T mobile has one and they blow!

Web sites are not authoritative sources. John Clark is.

The Verizon 9650 and 9330 are both shipping with OS 6 now.
Any of them shipping with OS 5 are simply "old stock" and can easily be updated to OS 6.

And if it ships with it or you upgrade it...what's the difference? It takes 20 minutes tops to upgrade a new device's OS.

Generally, one gathers more info and gets educated before deciding who blows.

Verizon has no UMA. They blow.

Verizon is way more expensive than TMobile. They blow.

You can't use the Torch on Verizon. They blow.

Its all opinion.

Verizon is always last because they're smart. They observe how well everybody else does with it first then they enter the market. Wisdom is learning from other's mistakes. Apparently Verizon has developed some wisdom. It's no surprise that they're kicking the s*)t out of their competition.

Yes, they certainly are smart to use a technology that doesn't allow someone to be on a phone call and browse the web at the same time.

Oh my. Wow.

LOL... I really got a rise out of that! I really didn't mean to B.S. anyone. I think Verizon has a plan, that's all.

I dunno, sometimes you have a give-and-take. Verizon has spread their network out and has considerably better coverage area than anyone else. It's entirely possible that they chose to invest in coverage before investing in the cost of bringing that technology up-to-speed as fast as the others. Who knows, eh? When they *do* go 4G they're going to not only be up-to-speed but be *everywhere*. It's something worth thinking about.

Besides, be honest here. How many times do you REALLY (I mean REALLY) need to be on a phone call and browsing the web at the very same time? Let's get real guys. The Engadget folks recently did a review on the iPhone to Verizon and they pointed this out and said that they didn't miss it nearly as much as they thought they would. I agree. If I had to choose coverage vs. simultaneous access - I'd go with coverage first. Yeah, the hotshot power-users out there might be upset but this is a numbers game. I'd be willing to bet that 95% of the client base doesn't care about browsing and doing voice calls at the same time. I sure don't - and I'm a reasonably advanced user of the technology. That may be the reason that Verizon appears to be "last". They may have a completely different approach than people are realizing. A bit more conservative on the front end to win out in the end. Don't count 'em out.

One thing I know, at least from my perspective. I've been with, oh, 4 different carriers over the last 12 or so years and Verizon has hands-down been the best at customer service and reliability as far as I'm concerned. I've had far less trouble and zero hassle when it came to dealing with issues. If that's the way they treat their customer base (in general now ... I know there are people who do have problems) they're building a long-term strategy.

Oh well, my 2-cents. Go ahead and beat up on my logic if you like, I don't mind.

Precisely. There are pros and cons to each carrier. One really isn't "better" than the other. If VZW doesn't have service where you live and Tmo does then VZW blows--and vice versa. No need for blanket opinion statements disguised as facts.
