Default 8900 Not charging - Battery Is Drained

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have a curve 8900 and I have a major situation....

To explain;

My Curve was low and I forgot to take my USB charger to work with me. I turned it off, and on throughout the day. When i eventually got home the battery was low (Red) and It wouldn't charge via USB cable. So i tried the Wall (Mains) Chargers. This stopped working awhile back due to faulty connection, but the USB charger always worked prior to this.

So eventually the batery drained completely.

I brought a new Wall Charger & and In-Car charger and put it to charge.

What happens is; I get a red light appear for about 20seconds.... Then the light goes off, the screen goes blank, and then a big battery symbol with Yellow Lightening appears.

I assumed this meant it was charging, but there was no LED flash to tell me this.

I left it on charge for over 8hours and its still the same empty symbol, and the same situation.

Is the battery completely dead?
Is this a common fault?

It is the first time it's completely run down!

I read on the backberry.com site

and found the "Discharge Conditions" - What does this mean? because a point that matches mine is;

If a BlackBerry smartphone turns off automatically due to insufficient battery power and it is not charged for a long period of time, then it enters a deep sleep condition. Connecting a charger to the BlackBerry smartphone at this point causes a red LED to turn on for up to 2 minutes, after which the red LED turns off and the Battery Charging icon appears.

Leave it to charge another couple of hours and then, WITH THE CHARGER STILL CONNECTED TO THE BLACKBERRY, remove the battery and reinsert. You might initially still get the "no battery" icon, but wait and see if it begins to reboot after 20-30 minutes, and if not do another battery pull (still connected to the charger).

I've read that else wheer and have tried it numerous amount of times this morning.

I will however try again.
It has been charging sicne i got to work anyway (9am UK-Time).

I have contact Vodafone (my supplier) but i'd rather try things others have suggested before i go to them.

Would a replacement battery work?

All this hassel just because the battery died? Surely that can't be the issue! that it goes like this just when the battery dies?

Good, let us know.

I've revived several "dead" batteries this way. It takes patience and time.
