I don't seem to have any volume control when playing music or videos/movies. I press the up/down buttons on the side of the phone, but no change. Am I missing something? I believe this worked in 4.6, but never used enough to remember. Volume buttons work fine on phone calls. Did some searching, but no answers.

while installing the OS, the process would freeze during the initializing stage. i disconnected, plugged it back in and repeated the process, and it took 3 minutes to complete everything. i went to desktop manager and restored my phone, but got a voice recorder error. now when i record a voice/video, it replays sounding completely different. how do i get resolve this issue?

this is not the right post for this - a mod should move this to a new thread or something.

However, it does sound like your installation was corupted. run a backup, and use JL CMDR to wipe the device.

reinstall the COD files and you should be good to go.

Would this upgrade work irrespective of the carrier? Am on Airtel India network and am in two minds on whether to upgrade ... don't want to have bugs with little support from the service provider and am new to the BB scene.

Hopefully someone can help...

Trying to install this 5.0 release on my wifes new 8900 from the standard 4.6.250 and after Loader backs up the data, it tries connecting to device and "Uploading RAM Image" and all I get is a red light for a second and then it goes off, and then an error a couple minutes later saying "Application loader cant connect to your device" and asking to retry.

I have removed vendor.xml as well.

Does anyone know what is causing this error and the phone to turn off and stay off?

yes. delete vender.xml first though.

dont forget, you can always downgrade your OS if you need to go back to what you used to have....

I have done a JL Cmdr wipe and have the 507 now, but STILL get the error when connecting to ROM to upload the RAM image and the phone shutsdown completely.

your question was answered in your other thread.

power issues are the only other thing i can think of... and if you say you've tried that already, then i dont think there is anything else we can do for you.

sorry! but it probably is hardware

Upgraded 5 days ago. Went fine, but I had to install BBM from the marketplace. Noticed one wellknown bug: if the screen has gone dark/timed out and I put it into my charging dock (bedside mode) sometimes the screen will light up white and the BB freezes. I can get it back to the homescreen if I hold the red End button. The tmob screen come on and then homescreen very quickly. One time the screen went totally black when I removed it from the dock. Same solution. They said this bug is fixed in the newest OS release (.611, not beta). Just a heads up.

Tried loading this on my gf's bb last night (tmo 8900 unlocked using att running .231)

No bbm, no aim, no yahoo msger, no facebook, quickpull or myspace.

They won't install. Says install complete but none of them show up under applications. Quickpull installs but no home screen icon. Tried installing them using appworld. They install then immediately get archived.

Rolled it back to .231.

Not willing to invest anymore time on it until att or tmo release their 5.0

Oh, visual vm was pretty annoying, seeing how att doesn't have it yet for this model, I would keep getting error txt msgs.
