The only issue I have with BBToday, as with others, is getting max timeout or wrong DNS, which like others also is corrected by manually asking it to update. I have a 7290 running 4 on BES. I think it is just a delay issue in contacting and getting information back from the web site for updating of weather and stocks.
As stated on a different thread dealing with the new release soon of version 2 of PocketDay, I never get these issues with that program, but on the other hand, I think that the free BBToday does a much better job at handling stocks than the pay PocketDay. It does not look like there will be any changes to speak of in stock reporting in PocketDay 2.

I am on Cingular, BWC, version 4.0, with a 7290.

Thanks!
Roger that, I have the same problem and I'm on Cingular, BWC, OS 4.0 with a 7290. Same device, same problem. I'll try to figure it out...

It doesn't seem to handle all fonts correctly. When I had my font set to bbmillibank and size 6 the text was at least 2X smaller inside of BBweather than on the rest of my system. If I change the font to System it displays fine.

Hi, I am very new in this forum. But I found something interesting for your problem. Go to option>TCP and enter APN wap address for your carrier. It will work.

Right, but this is a problem after the TCP settings have been entered. I assume that it is some sort of software glitch because it loads and functions properly except for every other launch it will not update normally without the error message.

Yes, I know what you mean. I guess it is also based on the location where we are to pick up enough signal strength to get update. I configured the duration of 4 hrs and found quite OK. I realized it is unable to update when I am in the building or subway. I did not try BB weather yet. I heard BB weather is quite smooth.

How do I go about changing the location for weather in BBTODAY?

When I look into the options, it gives USTX1351 but what exactly does that mean? How do know what Location ID I have at my location?

You can either change it to a zip code (which works) or determine the index by trial and error the weather.com code. You start with Country+State+####. as in USCA0182 for Carlsbad California. Format is strict - country (two letter code)+state (two letter code) and 4 numbers, which is actually city index sorted alphabetically within the state.

Someone here also posted a link where you can enter a city and state and it will show you the weather.com code. I can't find it anymore.

Hope that helps

Aloha

Default Subscribe to animated weather on BlackBerry

There's a cool weather app at http://mobile.blackberry.com.

You can subscribe to your favourite city as well. (You have to use the Internet Browser on your BlackBerry in order to be able to subscribe though).

Or, just to view weather, click on the 'News / Weather / Sports' link, select, 'AccuWeather' from the 'Weather' links, and search for your city.

The weather forecast is a 5 day animated SVG page. Be sure to view it on your BlackBerry, (not IE), in order to see the animated version.

Good luck,
Petey

For those who got the Could not find a service book entry for IPPP error, here's how to fix it (at least it worked for me).

In BBWeather, go to options and click Disable MDS Proxy.

That should hopefully work!

ok i went to check this out and it is showing up on my 7290 as text only - no animation and no images. i understand how all of the browser options work - yes they are all enabled with Blackberry emulation. why wouldn't the animation and/or images appear??

Its the browser, most likely. It has to be the HTML browser, not the WAP browser. (and HTML + WML must be turned on in the browser options). It also may be the software version running on your device. I think the weather will work on devices running 3.7.1 or higher...

I'm guessing that I have to set up my TCP settings for this to work?

Any notion of what such settings would be for T-Mobile (7290)?

Thanks.

Never mind, I found the "guide" answers. Also, I entered my correct settings, but it did not work until a rebooted my 7290. After that, success!
