I suspect this has been posted already; forgive if I missed it. I was installing n update on my Curve 8310 using the RIM desktop manager for Mac OSX (note I'm using a Mac). The upgrade failed, the device failed to rebooted and gave me the 507 message. I assume I need to reinstall the OS now but I don't know how to using a Mac. Any suggestions?
You could try a battery pull and see if that clears the 507 error and reboots the BB. Might work as a battery pull fixes many things.
If the Mac DM OS install doesn't work, maybe find a friend with a PC who will let you do the install from his/her machine.
Also a note, it isn't a good idea to use your email address as your user name. We typically find bots trolling around looking to harvest email address and having yours out in public could set you up for more SPAM than gmail wants to see.
Thanks for the replies. I will be sure to change my username. The Mac DM wouldn't recognize my device since it fails to boot. I'm thinking I will have to use a PC to do this. It is unfortunate that RIM provides so little support for Mac users.
Sometimes you need to do a battery pull WHILE connected to the computer. The Mac DM client is an excellent first stab at it, way beyond what I was expecting, but it's still not as robust as the Windows client. Although I'm all Mac-ed up at home, I do keep an old IBN ThinkPad (X31, Windows XP SP3) around for phone stuff.
