Default Bold 9700 + DM for Mac + Address Book Issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

New to BB, have been iPhone user. Switched to BB Bold 9700 recently.

My setup:-
1. Snow Leopard 10.6.3
2. BB DM 1.0.2
3. Address Book
4. iCal

The problem I encountered:-
Address Book will sync all contacts to Bold 9700 for the first time. When sync again for the second, third etc, the addresses that synced would only be name, telephone numbers, mobile number, email address, company and designation. Contact address would not sync. So both Address Book on Snow Leopard and BB Contacts would have no addresses.

It's kind of frustrating, as luckily I backup the Snow Leopard via Time Machines, or else I would have loose all the contacts.

Is this configuration issue or bug?

Thanks in advance for the kind assistance, cheers.

Thanks for the reply.

This BB only syncs with my Mac, no other Mac nor Windows. I thought of that could be the problem, but it seems not.

I believe could be bug in DM.

Check that you've allowed the BBDesktop for Mac to ALLOW synch'ing to multiple machines and that your contacts for address' are NOT set in Custom fields you've created on the BB, but in the standard fields.

Also on your BB is it for personal use? if so then CHECK on HH which is the default for your address book.

My apologies, my last post was going by poor memory and although I was on my Mac I was trying to recover my own firmware.

In BBDM for Mac OS X...
1. Update the Address for each contact in Mac "Address Book" (you can touchtype faster than on BB). Unless they're all still on the BB 9700 itself.

2. On the Mac, BlackBerry Desktop Manager (BBDM) select Contacts and see your sync preferences:
Sync Contacts = 2-Way
All Contacts & Groups selected

Menu Bar> Preferences:
"This device is synchronized with other computers (Safer Sync)" is selected (I use both WinXP in Parallels, and MacBook & Mac Mini with 9700 FW .423 with SL 10.6.3 with latest BBDM for Mac (WinXP on Parallels on Mac Mini only); and I have NOT lost anything prior to me deliberately screwing things up (needed a firmware change that is not supported but I assure you, you should NOT have issues with these settings).

3. On you BB in Options>Advanced> Default Services which is the default email set? Also I on BBDM, check the Calendar ... here you'll see what is set to sync (this'll match Home/Work/etc with your Calendars in Default Services. Yes their different but may hint on what's going on.)

If your items are all on the device maybe its best to tell BBDM to forget device, disconnect. Delete all records on Mac, then reconnect and setup your sync from scratch.

Let us know what resolved your issue.

Thanks Jagga, really appreciate your kind assistance.

I am configuring the device as well as the BBDM as suggested, shall share more details if it has solved the issue.

BTW, most of the information is stored in Mac, not on BB.

Thanks again.

No problem, hopefully this helps.
I'm super green to the Mac, just over 30 days but I've got experience with Palm Desktop, BB Desktop Manager and BlackBerry's for a while - but even here I'm still learning.
