My brother had an 83xx model and now has the 89xx model through ATT. He feels the battery was much stronger in his 83xx model.

What are your thoughts about the 89xx battery?

My thoughts are....Your brother is right!

I've posted on this in the "Does my battery life seem normal?" thread. The bottom line is: With my 8320 I usually had 40% left when I put it on the charger at night. With my 8900, and no change in usage or location, I often have a dead battery before I go to bed, or, if not, I have very little charge left--at least according to "Status." I don't have any geotagging things turned on, and I actually don't make a lot of phone calls. As I wrote in the other thread, I notice that just playing mp3s is quite a drain, which is puzzling.

Thank you. I guess the best work around i sto but an extra battery and an external charger.

I've found something else that may be relevant.

I have Live Search installed on my 8900. It's set to use GPS location when searching, by default. When I'm not using Live Search, I exit the program, but I discovered something. When I reset the 8900, or when it reboots itself due to browser overload, as still happens, it starts up Live Search on its own. So Live Search has been running in the background quite a bit. I don't know if it does anything with GPS when I'm not actively using it, but it might. When I discovered this, a couple of days ago, I made sure that after a reset I would manually exit Live Search. Since doing this, I'm getting much more respectable battery life, without any changes in usage patterns.

Is there a way to keep Live Search from loading on startup?

Is Live Search a pre-installed program? What is it exactly?

Live search is not a pre-installed program and it is Microsoft's LIVE search.
MS's search engine called Live search.
