Default RIM to set up shop in Texas

Irving, Texas will be home to RIM’s American HQ, and they’ll be hiring 1,000 new bodies or so to man the place.

Anyone know how they arrived at Irving? Would have loved to see them come to Seattle, In the Gates/Balmer backyard.

Not privy to their decision process, but Irving (Dallas suburb) is home to Nokia's North American HQ operations. In terms of the kind of skilled employees they'll be looking for, that probably trumps Microsoft/Gates/Ballmer in this case.

Makes sense. Wasn't aware of Nokia's presence in Irving. Thanks.

Um they already HAVE an office if FT Worth TX. ITs been there for about 2yrs now. I guess their just making it an Official Head office. I REALLY REALLY hope that servers and an extention of their BB INfrastructure will be located there as well ... REDUCING Worldwide load and less email outtages?!
