A lot of this will depend on your environment.

How many servers? How many users? Are there any existing issues with your BES 4.1.6 environment? etc

Only 1 server, 25 to 30 users, BES 4.1.6 is working fine with Maintenance release 3.

I want minimal downtime,

Are you cutting over your current BES 4.1.6 to a new hardware prior to upgrade BES 5.0? If yes, I would suggest that you cutover your BES 4.1.6 first, then you upgrade to BES 5.0.

Does your BES run a local MSDE, or remote SQL DB?

Best way in that case is to stand up your new server first, then use the transporter tool to migrate the users.

With that few users, the whole migration will only take about 20 mins, and the users will see very little downtime if any.

Here's a link to the details of the tool.

techtiger, if your new BES 5.0 server is not bearing the SAME computer hostname and the Domino server name, and you are going to use a new SQL server to host a new BESMgmt db, then BES Enterprise Transporter (BRK tool) is the way to go as mentioned by skyman84.

KB04261 requirements is that computer hostname and Domino server name remain UNCHANGED. Any deviation for your case?

My bad, not a requirement for computer hostname and Domino server name remain UNCHANGED for KB04261. You may have not update those config tables properly...

What is the surrounding log lines in the MAGT log for that log line you posted earlier? Perhaps they will give a better picture on your issue.
