Default Back ups and text message help..PLEASE!

Please Login to Remove!

My husband received some text messages back in December that I'm hoping I can pull off one of the backups we did shortly after that. He's dealing with some employee issues that have now come to a court case. Our provider is T-Mobile and they don't keep the content of messages.

I know I backed his blackberry up within a month of it happening. Would those text messages be on the backup? (he doesn't usually delete them that often) If so, what's the best way of getting them?

I'm thinking I will need to back it up as of today, then restore that old backup to see if they are on there, and then restore todays back up. Does that sound right? Would there be an easier way? If they are on there, what's the best way to get them off so he can give them to the attorney?

Thanks for your help....

Yes, that's one way. You could also look into a program called ABC amber convertor, or similar. I haven't used it but supposedly you can look into the IPD (backup) files.

If this involves a court case I would supply the unedited IPD files unless you think no one would be suspicious of editing.
If you were to give me information you said was from the backups I would challenge any files that were previously opened.

tsac..how do I get the unedited files?
I'm a novice at all this.

What a mess this has turned into....it was supposedly all handled and now all of a sudden this employee is saying he doesn't know any of what went on. Getting these texts would be huge.

Thank you all!

The unedited files would just be the file you have saved on your computer.

eg: AutoBackup-(2010-05-30).ipd or Backup-(2010-05-30).ipd etc.

dubdub...carrier is T-Mobile and they don't keep the content of text messages. I can go online and show that a text was sent via my bill but not hte content. I need the content. I ***think*** they may be on the backup I did about 10 days after the incidents.

I need to find out the best way to get that content OFF the back up so I can send to the attorney.
