Default MS Outlook synchronization error

Please Login to Remove!

I have Desktop Manager v4.1.0.8 on my PC. When synchronizing the calendar an error message is displayed:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library
Runtime error!
Program:...ogram Files\Research In Motion\Blackberry\DesktopMgr.exe

abnormal program termination"

In the following tracelog it appears that there is a call to the CDRom drive on my PC D:. I have looked in every possible config file to identfy this call and have been unable to find it. I have completed a clean uninstall of the BB Desktop software several times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WW

I had the same problem and found a solution on another website. It is caused by having an attachment in one of the calendar events. When this event or attachment is deleted the problem should go away. Go into Outlook Calendar, sort by Category, and delete the emails with attachments (or just delete the attachments).

If the issue is calendar attachements then this is a serious limitation. The meeting requests usually are with attachements that have the agenda.

Any comment on this !!

Thanks

Default Calendar issue is due to HTML in Notes Section

The solution of deleting the attachment from the calendar item worked for me when the calendar item had HTML, specifically a table, cut and pasted into the notes section of the calendar. Other items such as Word docs or HTML links dont cause problems. To test, follow the organize by category and then delete the calendar record 1 record at a time. I've been able to find just one calendar item that was causing the problem.

I have also had this problem, but found out it had to do with google calendar invitations that where added to my outlook calendar. I have been able to recreate the problem many times. If you are connecting to your gmail via MS Outlook and someone sends you a calendar entry from google calendar, Outlook handles this fine, but when you go to sync your blackberry Desktop Manager crashes. Desktop Manager will continue to crash until you remove all Outlook calendar entries from google.
Let me know if anyone has found a work around for this problem. I know my post is specific to Outlook entries from google calendar, which have attachments. I relizes this is most likely a bigger issue, and not a specific problem with the google calendar format.

Wow - 1st time ever to such a forum and I found an identical problem. I got the exact same following message, but stranegely enough the first time I "synched" (or actually just exported from handheld) I had no such problem. It happend on my second effort after I made a few simple changes in my contacts DB.

Help!

I'm glad I found this thread!

I upgraded the software on my BB last night because I was having problems syncing and thought that would fix it... not. I didn't realize that I had an appt with an attachment, and sure enough - problem solved after deleting it.

Thanks guys.

Thumbs up Thank you

I had the same problem. I found a table pasted into one of my appointments and after deleting it, Desktop Manager finally allowed me to synchronize without the runtime error. I have a lot of attachments - typically emails and some Word documents and those did not seem to be a problem.

Yup, that solved it for me! I had a JPG (a map) in an appointment - not unheard of - and when I removed it the problem went away.

Try this next time:
On the BlackBerry site go to support and look for KB-04427.

And look towards the bottom for KB-01451. I can tell you how to read logs because I've done it too many times.

Default God Bless you all

Thanks to this thread I may not pull all my hair out. I had the attachment program with my BB 7130E / Blackberry Messenger 4.0.1.10 and Outlook 2003. Now I won't miss any meeting because of synching...

Default Attachment was the problem!

So thankful I found this thread. Just got a BB 8700c and as soon as i installed my new BB software on the computer and tried to sync with Outlook 2003 I started getting the error when syncing the calendar. The strange thing is that I had a BB 7260 and had no problems with this. Oh well. I removed the calendar items with attachments and now it works fine!

Smile Thank You Sooo Much!!!!

I got this error when I upgraded from Office 2002 to 2003. I followed the instructions from RIM to work out it was my calendar.
Sent the details through to my service provider (who my hubby works for!) and they just came back and told me that they are not MS certified so can't help. They suggested I call the company I bought my pc from for help!!!

I was mightly p**d off because my pc crashed a couple of weeks ago and what with the hassle of getting that back up and running, this was another inconvenience.

Thank goodness for the internet, google searching and this forum! I am now a member and will go here first for any more issues!

Smile Upgrade to desktop 4.2 to avoid sync runtime error

Upgrading to Desktop Manager 4.2 solved the Outlook Calendar runtime error sync problem - without requiring that you delete attachments.

This was the fix for our error:
"Unable to get an Outlook or MS Exchange record. Lack of network access to MS Exchange Server can cause this problem."

Problem was with the calendar synch. We finally tracked it down to a bad calendar item that we could not open in Outlook. Deleted the item, problem solved.

Default More on the calendar sync issue

I recently developed the same issue. It turns out my problem was caused by a Office 2003 excel file being attached to a calendar item. Once the file was removed from the event the sync happened without a hitch.

I am running BB 4.1.08

Smile Issue resolved for me

After going through the various solutions other posters described, I still was not able to sync as the application failed about 75% through.

I generated the tif.log file as described in BB KB-01451, a poster offered to analyze the files for me but the end-user was in dire need to get this synched.

I analyzed the tif.log file and discovered the next entry should have been #1057, so earlier in the file I was able to locate the details for #1057 and remove this from the outlook calendar.

It appears this was a requested meeting that wasn't accepted and had conflicted with 22 other scheduled appointments. The sync was successful after deleting this recurring appointment.

Thanks
