Default recommended GPS app for my new curve?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new to the GPS scene and I personally dont know how useful it will be, BUT i wanted to what is the best app to utilize the GPS feature? I'm using google maps as of right now to test my GPS. Is there any cool free GPS apps out there?

Depends on what you want from GPS. If you want voice turn-by-turn, most here favor Telenav. Otherwise BB and Google Maps are quite good. There are others as well. A visit to the GPS forum would help you.

I think the TeleNav subcription is $99 per year through Telenav. I had a $6/mo from Cingular for 10 routes/month for awhile.

Of the premium Apps I prefer Mapquest over Telenav, it's only 49.99 per year and it stores the map data on the phone so you don't need data connection the whole time you are enroute. Telenav requires data connection at all times. Both are great programs and offer free trials, so try them both out and see what works best for your needs.

Blackberry Maps and Google Maps are both nice free options, but neither give you voice guided directions.

There is also a free program called aMAze GPS, but I wouldn't recommend it at this time. Maps lag, making it practically useless. Also I have found quite a few inaccuracies in the map data itself here in Indiana. Turn by turn mode works better than map view (faster) & voice prompts are crisp and clear. Who knows, maybe the map data is more accurate where you live.

Also there is an application called Nav4All that I have not tried, but I understand it to be free also. No recommendation one way or the other on it, but I have included a link.

Links:

Voice directions on your GPS phone: TeleNav

Google Maps OTA

Go to this link from your BB Browser and download Blackberry Maps OTA: http://mobile.blackberry.com

I hope the links help.

Happy Berrying!

Telenav is what I'd recommend. Read up on the GPS forum, download and try the different apps yourself though. Not everyone has the same needs/wants and you're better off relying on firsthand experience.

Welcome to BBF...

Telenav = 9.99/mo for unlimited routes.

If you're like me, the most you may need is a couple of routes, 10 routes = $5.99.

I have tried nav4All & it works very nicely although the man gets mad if you don't follow his directions! He kept telling me to turn around & go back!!
It gives you warning before turns etc. Even has a function to remember you rparking spot! That would come in handy at Disney!
