Here is a conversation I had with Slackers Tech Chat.
CharlesB: Thank you for contacting Slacker Live Chat Support. My name is Charles. How may I help you today?
David: Hello
David: I have installed slacker on 8330. When I attempt to run it I get a firewall error and am unable to set up an account
David: are you there?
CharlesB: This is usually due to a IT policy and your firewall being turned on. If you gop to Options > Security Options > Firewall is it enabled?
David: Yes firewall is enabled. I went into options-advanced-applications-and set all permisions to allow.
CharlesB: Are you able to disable the firewall?
David: sure but I don't want to. Is this the only way it will run?
CharlesB: Correct.
David: Charles, I don't mean to argue with you but I have read posts where other people are saying it works on their phones with firewall on.
David: Is this something that will change
David: I mean, is it an issue being worked on or that is just the way it is
CharlesB: At this time, the firewall is known to block our application. At this time we are not aware of any workarounds for this and you are more than welcome to ask them or find other ways to get the player to play around the firewall. If the phone is able to play through the firewall and it is not supposed to we are not responsible for any issues that arise due to this.
David: Thank you for your help
CharlesB: We would like to Thank You for choosing Slacker Live Chat Support today.
CharlesB: Also make sure you are using the 1.0.20 version of the Slacker app.
CharlesB: You can find out by going to BB Menu on the Slacker app > About. If you are not then you will want to uninstall and then reinstall the app.
David: It is the latest version
CharlesB: ok
David: I will try it without the fire wall but I will not want to leave the phone this way. I guess I will not be able to use the app.
David: Thanks again
Has anyone found they can used an uncached station with fire wall on. I tried it and can use the application if firewall is off. When it is on I can access cached staitons but not uncached.
