It seems as though Sprint users are having problems getting GPS to work correctly on Google Maps with the My Location feature.

Even after configuring the software & device coupled with a clear sky for a satellite signal, it's still relying on cell tower triangulation, which puts accuracy at 1.7km.

1) Is this a known systemic issue?

2) If so, is it known if this is a software issue with the program or a firmware/OS issue with the device?

It's a similar problem to this thread but I think it's a different issue. I have been looking into buying one myself and prefer the Google Maps application, that's why I am inquiring.

That doesn't work. Besides, Google has modified the download page to correctly determine the 4.3 OS on the 8330 so going to those directly is no longer required.

My guess is that the GPS functionality changes with this chipset and Google Maps just doesn't support it yet. It will happen, just give Google some time.

Meh, figured that may be the case as well. Had to do the due diligence first though. Lol.
