Question Export Contact List to File?

Please Login to Remove!

Good Day All,

My 9800 Torch's screen, call, menu, back & end buttons have stopped working. <-Trackpad does still work though...

Is there a way(without pressing anything on the actual phone -> on which I cant see the screen) to backup my contacts?

-I've since had to resort to using my old android phone so I would like to export those contacts and add(or sync) them with gmail.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's the catch... I am at work right now with a working usb cable & Blackberry Desktop Manager(and apparently my other usb cable at home isn't working). Is there any OTHER way(than to sync to outlook->My Work Email) to get a backup of these contacts? If there is no way, I may just end up taking the bloody cable home and doing it there... I'd just like to have this sorted out as quickly as possible.

Regards.

You really should make a backup with Desktop Manager and export your contacts that way.

Would that way require me going through Outlook though?

I read somewhere that an older version of Desktop Manager allowed you to export directly to csv(I think it was version 6?) I have version 7 on my work & home pc's.

I don't think it would require that, but I'll let someone else comment on that.

Hi. This is Alex from Reincubate. I work on the BlackBerry Backup Extractor project. Well, BBDM just creates an encoded backup and you could use BBDM again when you got a new phone to restore from previous backup. But if you want your contacts now, you could use the BlackBerry Backup Extractor and extract them into a CSV file that you can then import to Outlook, you can find more on our blackberry converter blog. Hope it helps. Cheers!

AlexandraM, Unless I'm miss reading the software limits for the free version, it is limited to 4 records. To get full record conversion you need to buy the full registered version.

to answer ghoststar's question. You can use free backup readers to see the data in the backup file but that assumes you made one. If your really really lucky you can try doing a backup using DM but you may still need to input a password.
