I wonder what improvements there are over .419?
Is it worth my time and effort upgrading?

Nice, I've heard it was out, through the DM web-based install.

Let us know what you think.

I plugged my tour (with .419) to DM, and it said it wants to update it to 5.0.0 I did not see .484 How can I be sure it is actually .484 and not some other older 5.0.x version?

How can you tell you are getting .484? When I connected to DM it just says 5.0.0?

I would imagine that they have only released one version.

2 major issues so far with this.
When locking keyboard, it locks the keys but won't enable password. Not good at all.
Standby option? Gone.
Once again not good.

Click options or settings I can't remember theirs not many choices from that screen, then select (possible it's a right click?) modules and their it will have full version numbers.

But that means AFTER installing to find the version number. I want to see the version number before installing. Did you actually see .484 on the module list or something on DM before the install? I saw it saying only 5.0.0. Oh well I guess I could go ahead and install and hope its .484. I installed .419 directly from the leaked package I downloaded and sometimes DM thinks that what I got is "old" when it tries to push 4.7 back to my tour.

I was able to see the version number before install, but I think that's because I have a few different 9630 versions installed on my PC. It came up with a dialog in DM that showed the different versions and the .484 was the 'preferred' version.

I'm doing the upgrade as I type.....

I have a feeling I'm hosed.... My device is still connected to DM at the 'restore device data' step. The specific database it's supposedly working on is BBGroups.....and it's been sitting at this step for at least 20 minutes.

Good thing I did a full backup and backed my BBM up to my media card....

Please do keep us advised juwaack68.
I respect your opinion and findings here on the site., and unless I am going to benefit from this upgrade from .419, I am not sure I will update until it is either refined or forced down my BB's throat!

It is still hung up on the BBGroups.

However, I talked to JSanders and he said it's because the BBGroups take quite some time to backup and restore. He recommends removing yourself from any BBM Groups before doing the upgrade.

Fortunately I'm getting more work done since my BB is out of commision right now

RIM said this is a known issue with BBGroups, possibly with how Desktop Manager handles them. He wasn't sure if there was a fix released yet, or they were still working on it.

As soon as I said the restore was hung up for so long, the tech said "It's hung up on BBGroups, isn't it?" He personally had the same issue and let his device sit for a full day before pulling the USB cable.

He had me disconnect it from the USB cable and it all came up just fine - even all of my groups are back, which has never happened with a previous upgrade.
