Default Installing Telenav on 8800?

Please Login to Remove!

I've been playing with the blackberry maps which I downloaded and installed into my new 8800, but I was wondering what the deal was with the Telenav software that Cingular is supposedly going to push?

Is there somewhere that we can get this? As mentioned in a few other posts, telenav.com doesn't mention the 8800 as being supported by Cingular yet.

So whats up with this? Do we just have to wait or am I missing something? It seems to me that Cingular would already be pushing this somewhere as I am sure they are looking to signup their new $10/month GPS customers.

TeleNav

Over-the-air download for Telenav. Again, the 8800 is not listed but does the 8700 download work? Or should I wait for them to list 8800?

Just trying to figure this out... haha

Another update... If you go to the Telenav over-the-air download website (that I linked to above) from your blackberry 8800 browser, after you select "cingular" as your wireless carrier it detects that you are downloading Telenav for your Blackberry 8800. I never selected blackberry 8800... I just selected 'cingular' and then it knew I was on an 8800.

Everything installed okay and the application runs (you may have to enable all the permissions on it first by going to Advanced > Applications > Telenav). However, I need to purchase a pin of course. =)

Did it install 5.0 or 4.7?

I thought Telenav was supposed to be on the devices?

That's what I thought also. I didn't think you would have to download it onto the device.

I signed up via Cingular customer Service. They sent me a link, and 4.7 was downloaded.

It installs 4.7.0.18, but the download screen does specifically mention the 8800.

Supposed to be 5.0 based on what they have told me. This will be a big dissapointment if its not. 5.0 adds follow you along the route and find POI's along the route. 5.1 will add traffic.

Default Telnav OTA Link

Just got off the phone with Telenav support. They had no idea that the 8800 was supported. I was the one that informed them that it works perfectly by downloading the Ota activation link from your Blackberry Browser. all you need to do is go to

www.Ota.telenav.com/ota/at

I'm a happy camper and I hope it works as well for you

Telenav just confirmed for me that it's 4.7 for now.

Does this work for you? I downloaded the telenav navigator (4.7) and it requires a phone number and PIN. I called Telenav support and they said Telenav does not work with the 8800 as of yet. Has anyone had a different experience? I also signed up for the nav service through Cingular when I bought the 8800 yesterday. Received a confirmation text as well from Cingular.

I am unable to use the 8800's built in GPS with Telenav. Under preferences it only gives me the option to use the Bluetooth. However, I can use Blackberry maps with the built in GPS. I imagine an upgrade is coming to allow this functionality.

Preferences xxx8211; Device xxx8211; GPS Source: xxx8220;Internalxxx8221;

Try changing this setting to internal.

Is this for Telenav GPS Navigator (4.7) or Blackberry Maps? I see that option in BB Maps.

Yes, as MrKyoo said, in TeleNav go to Preferences then scroll down to the section for "Device." Then change "GPS Source" to "Internal."

Thanks guys, but when I click on GPS source I only have the Bluetooth option and not the "Internal" option. I am running Telenav 4.7.0.07. Should I reinstall Telenav?

That's funny. I have the "internal" option on my Pearl and it doesn't even have built in GPS.

I got it to work. I made the GPS rookie mistake and tried to start it indoors! It worked when I got in my car. I wish this version had voice commands, etc. I guess version 5.0 will. Other then that, it works pretty well.
