After 24 hours of using .53 on my Sprint Tour, I really have not seen anything different. GPS on Google Maps still not working. I had to increase my horizional setting back to 90 to keep the right-left scroll working right. I charge my BB every night so I am not sure yet if theres improvement on battery life between charges.

I downloaded the .exe file before they pulled the original link, but didn't install it until this morning. I followed the instructions in the Original post to a tee...but when I tried to hook the BB back up to the pc, it wouldn't connect.

Nothing I tried would get the BB to connect to the Desktop manager, so I ended up uninstalling the DM, rebooting and reinstalling the DM with the old software version.

I'd like to try the new version to save some battery life...but I think I'll wait until it pushes through from the provider now.

I hope I'm not too late coming to this thread. I was just refereed here from another forum.

I followed the steps in the original post, and my BB now has v4.7.1.53 (Platform 4.1.0.65). When I rebooted it, it prompted me chose a language, however, it didn't give any options other than English and Portuguese.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Did you download the (Multilanguage) version from the original post? The link for that is under the Red text.

Yes, I did. Through the installation process, it showed me all the language options, which included East Asian languages, including Japanese.

Now, weird things are happening every time I reboot it. First, my BES account disappeared, then my g-mail icon disappeared, and now my AOL icon is gone, too, along with a few other icons for different apps. It seems icons keep disappearing every time I reboot it.

Not sure if this is relevant, but just an update.

When I tried to run google maps, it said I needed to reset the device by pulling the battery. So I did. I up and running, again. But no change to previous issues.

Another update - I've overstated my problems. I didn't loose many icons. I appears I only lost the icon for gmail. Everything else seems to be there. As to the BES account, I was able to find out through setup and it's been somehow deactivated - not sure how, though. I can reactivate my BES account tomorrow by calling the IT to get a password.
I'll try reinstalling v4.7.1.53 (Platform 4.1.0.65) and see what happens.

OK. I just went through the same installation process. This time, it took only a few minutes (I guess it makes sense because my BB already has v4.7.1.53). I made sure that the East Asia language option was checked. It didn't really do anything, except that now I have the Portuguese option back when I go to language options. BES and the icon for gmail still missing.

OK, I've tried this on various PCs over the past week, and here's where I'm at.

I followed everything in the original post tthree times on three different PCs, and twice with my device.

When I use Loader.exe (without DM), the language pack won't load, and weird things happen to my 9630. I had to call my BES administrator twice and wipe out the handheld twice.

When I use DM to "add delete" applications, it lists all languages in the East Asian language pack as available, except for Japanese romaji input, which is the one I need (all the Chinese, Korean, Thai are there).

I'm not sure if anybody has a solution to this, but I at least wanted to report back on what's happend to close the loop.

I guess I'll have wait until an official release of a new OS from Verizon Wireless that'll include East Asian language pack.

Thank you all for your help.
