Do you know if bbm work's through verizon's BIS while you are on AT&T as well?

BBM will work if you have a BlackBerry data plan with AT&T.

where you able to change "my number" to your actual number?: if so do you mind sharing how you did it?

alright i have been working with sprint and the higher ups to get something done about the "unlocked" tours. They say they were not aware that their phones were being shipped locked and the higher-ups should be getting the codes today. i will keep you guys posted one the situation.

Unlocked Sprint Tour is working with a T-Mobile PAYG SIM for inbound/outbound calling, but no data. Shows as "edge".

Just had my Sprint 9630 unlocked. With my valid T-mobile SIM card in there, I get the Circuit/Channel Not Available error when dialing out. I get the phone to say T-mobile and I'm on their network, and the bar strength is the same as my other T-mobile phone.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I found the problem with T-Mobile SIM cards. The 9630 can only read 128kb SIM cards. Most T-Mobile SIM cards are only 32kb or 64kb SIM cards. Just upgrade to a 128kb SIM and you're all set.

Do you need to have a BBerry Data Plan or will a regular data plan work? I'm trying to get it hooked up right using an AT&T Pay as You Go SIM

By default it comes with a $0.01/kB plan which I would use just to see if it would work before buying any sort of data allowance. However, I don't know how to get this thing working for data when I switch it from CDMA to GSM.

Anyone tell me what I'm missing? Voice works fine.. :/ Only says "edge"

I was on the phone today with BB techs going over this issue. Plus, I had a lot of active SIM cards at my disposal from other work BB phones. Through trial & error testing and the info from BB, it appears to be correct with the Tour phones.

I tried 6 x 32kb cards, 8 x 64kb cards, and 5 x 128kb cards. None of the 32kb or 64kb SIM cards worked in the Tour, but worked in a 8800, 8300, 8100, and 8900. All 5 of the 128kb SIM cards worked in the Tour, along with the other phones.

It took awhile to test all of this (through my own trial & error testing), but the results speak for themself.

How can you tell what the 128KB card looks like for T-Mobile? Please post a pick of a 128KB card contact side up, please?

Thanks again!

Does anyone know if a similar issue exists for at&t sim cards? Particularly the GoPhone sim cards. When I put mine in the Tour, all it does is shut down the radio.

Yes, Europe and Asia use 900 and 1800 MHz GSM + 2100 HSDPA
The Americas use 800 and 1900 MHz GSM and HSDPA
Japan and Korea have 800 CDMA and 2100 HSDPA (Korea also has 1700 CDMA) There is no GSM in either country.
Much of the rest of East Asia has 800 MHz CDMA, in addition to GSM and HSDPA.
This is not a complete list of frequencies used throughout the world.

I have active SIM cards from E Plus, Vodafone UK, and China Mobile. Any idea how I can tell if they are 128kb cards? Is the storage capacity for phone numbers a good indicator?

Thanks

Bumping this question and adding one of my own.

When you are on the phone - on the EVDO Verizon network, can you force the phone to do data over the AT&T GSM network?

I assume you're trying to get simultaneous voice and data. It does not work this way.
