Unhappy Please help my Blackberry Tour keeps rebooting by itself?

Please Login to Remove!

So yesterday outta nowhere, my Blackberry Tour mysteriously just started rebooting by itself.

At first I thought it was because the battery ran out, but no.

I had it on full charge and the battery was at 100%

When I'm texting or using MSN, it randomly shuts down and when I plug the charger back into it, it shows like 1 bar of battery left.

What the heck is going on?

I rebooted it, tried taking out the battery, even re installing the OS and almost everything.

But it's not working.

Please help I'm in desperate need

Have you installed any additional Apps? if so one may be corrupted. Reload and do not add any apps and see if it works.

I recently download Kik Messenger.

But the rebooting started a day after I downloaded that app.

I deleted it though, but still same problem.

did you reload the OS after removing the App? if not then I would do that.
not all Apps play nice. If you did reload the Os aafter removing the App then it may have corrupted another application. you will have to experiment a bit to find out which one.

Reinstalling the OS, like putting a new version of windows on a PC for a fresh install.

Look at the top pf this page for the latest OS version. Download it to your PC, double click to install it, delete the vendor.xml file, and double click on "loader". Uncheck all the non-RIM apps, and install. Add the apps back one by one and see what's causing the problem.

Also, I know the Verizon Tours had some type of software issue where they got stuck in a reboot or maintenance cycle. This almost sounds like that, though I can't imagine why that would happen under these circumstances. Verizon published some software to fix the reboot cycle on their site but I don't see it any more, at least for the Tour. A couple of the kb's talk about this condition ( KB17840 for example) but don't mention the patch, probably because it was incorporated in the newer software releases.....

We have one Tour 9630 in our BES arsenal and I've had problems with it rebooting itself during startup if the start up was initiated by a battery pull. I told the user not to pull the battery because its hit or miss if they'll be able to get the device to make it through the full boot process and be able to use the device. Other than that it isn't restarting after the device is fully booted.

Its a Sprint 9630 with the latest carrier release of the OS.

This actually is a pretty easy fix that nobody thinks about. Over at Crackberry.com there are several threads under the Tour that you can read, see my comments and agreement of many so here it is... For some reason the contacts in the battery compartment along with the battery seem to lose contact even though it may seem all is ok in the compartment.

This has not happened to me but I know many as you will see over at CB along with a good friend of mine over there who is a Mod. There are many fixes but it seems that many will take a business card and cut it in half and on the NON CONTACT side just place it between the compartment and the battery so as to force the battery to the contacts a bit tighter and this should resolve your problem.

I hope this works for you and post back to let me know and also go over to CB and read the posts on this subject there as well.
