I think I've found the cure everyone. I was having that same issue with it thinking my current OS was newer until I right clicked on the "Loader" file and chose to run it as an administrator.

It seems to be that simple folks...I currently have 5.0 updating from 4.7!

Do any of these releases fix the audio search problem.
Running a version of 5.0.0.419, when I go to an album and hit a letter to search for a record it won't do it. You have to scroll all the way to that record.

I'm not sure I understand your question. You don't need to open any file to delete the vendor.xml file. You just need to open the folder it's in and delete vendor.xml

c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." "apploader" there refers to a folder, not a file.

Sorry about that. kept trying to open the apploader dll file instead of just scrolling down and finding the vendor file. Found it and updated just fine.
Thanks

Excellent! This worked for me on Windows 7 after many failed attempts. Thanks!

I doubt the Smart Telecom OS will work.
I strongly suspect my 9630 CDMA setting just not right. Could anybody please show the step-by step repair using QPST? (i've downloaded vers 2.7.323) and I've absolutely no clue what to do with it.

Running 5.0.0.419(MTS Mobility) with DM 5.0.1.28.
I've read somewhere that DM 5 do not generate the necessary port to allow BIS. Is it true?

Sorry if I place the question in the not so correct thread.

Thanks before

Default Verizon Tour OS 5.0 Install Issues

hey everyone - glad to join this great forum. I just picked up a new Verizon Tour BB and wanted to update to the latest 5.0 OS. I am having issues with the install. I following all the directions explicity - downloading the software to desktop, installing software, removing the vendor.xls file and then plugging in the BB and running the loader. The loader opens and starts the install process but then I get to a screen called Device Application Selection and within that screen it looks like you are supposed to choose which App you want to install on your BB. I figure I should see OS 5.0 - however in the Application Name box it says "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator. So something is wrong - I have tried to reinstall and follow the steps numerous times without success. Any thoughts or ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Pat

It's a common issue without a specific fix. Some folks have said to 'right click' the apploader file and run as Administrator on Vista based machines I believe. If you have a pc running XP I'm willing to bet you will have no issues installing 5.0. Works for me every time.

I'm have been loosing 20MB of "leaked memory" in 24 hours. From 102 down to the mid 70's with the leaked version .419. I was hoping it was due to the "leaked" version but see above what I have is as good as it gets. I am a huge multi tasker. Granted. But on the 4.XX last series I never dropped below 88 or so... Anyone else see this w/ the 5 series? Maxmem etc all done long ago no multi language. Running Socialscope, FB, GMaps, Beejive, & PocketDay Pro Dashboard (among other things...)
I am on my own Corp BES and have had zero issues w/ that, email, attachments, or anything else and like the new text message format. Don't understand why we lost a one icon media player.

Default Need some help here...

I downloaded the file, installed it to my computer (Vista Premium), deleted the vendor.xml file & plugged in my Tour.
When I hit the loader.exe it boots up and then tells me that the Blackberry Desktop Manager does not have the software for this device.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have had no luck with a Tour 9630 from Sprint, now working on an Indian GSM network, Vodafone.

This handset does not allow me to install any of the 5.0 builds, and I fail to understand why.

Got this second-hand, and nobody knows how to get this provisioned using the local networks here in India.

I took the unit back to the States and when it was roaming on ATT (northern NJ ATT network), it started provisioning itself for the Indian provider!!

Can you believe that?

The phone works fine, but no data and even after doing a wipe and hard reset a number of times, nothing helps!

I thought maybe a firmware upgrade would work, but it apparently does not.

Any tips?
