Unhappy Stuck new message icon...

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,
First of all, thanks for keeping this wonderful forum alive !
I recently upgraded my OS to .113 (from .75) and so far I am really satisfied. My battery lasts 3-4 days, 1XEV is very stable and memory leak is minimal. Plus, accelerator is is more responsive when moving from landscape to portrait and camera has shorter lag when taking shots.
However, I occasionally have a "new message" icon that does not disapear after opening the new email. Same thing can happen in SMS messenger. What's funny, sometimes the new message icon goes to "no new message" in landscape, and jumps back to "new message" after flipping the phone back to landscape !
Did anyone notice that in .113? Of course, battery pull helps, but that's quite annoying ...

Just with regard to battery pull : There is a free SW reset app for the storm somewhere : saves pulling the battery.

This http://www.blackberryforums.com/afte...tml#post434057 may be what rileyrg is referring to. I guess it will work on your model blackberry. Check the author's site for compatibility info.

I also saw mention of an app called quickpull when I was searching around. Don't know anything about it, but worth a search yourself.

On the problem, I don't know. I would browse down through the 9500 series subforum and see if anyone else is having the same problem, ect.

Welcome to the group!

Yes, it's called QuickPull, made by Steelthorn. It works great and will even allow a user to schedule daily resets to help conserve memory and battery on a day to day basis. Go to http://www.mobihand.com/steelthorn/ from you BB browser to download.

actually you don't need to do a battery pull, every time; when the incident occurs i figured out that you could just goto the options screen then go back to home its gone lol

Maybe there's something with that model and a given OS, but generally, it depends. That could be only what worked for you in your case. Generally, for some people, a hard reset is required. And as I recall, even the hard reset hasn't helped for some people in the past, but changing to another theme and back did.

Dear All,
Yes, as GIJE069 sugeested, the "going to options" trick works in my case as well, but NOT ALWAYS. That would suggest that the issues is related to graphic/display/screen refresh (?) glitch. I did not try, but I gues that changing the theme would also work. Interestingly, I now recall that I had a similar problem (although less ferquently) with OS 0.75, so I don't think this is a version-dependent issue...

I get the exact same problem. It has happened on every build that I have tried including 148. Sometimes it would go away after a reboot, sometimes not. Could not find any other info on how to resolve this. Going to the options screen does not work for me. Very irritating.

I finally figured out how to get rid of this annoyance. I had to go back into Options/Accessibility/Grid layout and change it back to the default value. Worked for me.
