mContacts kept the two sets of contacts separate.

I haven't looked at it recently but I expect it has matured quite considerably.

this may not be ideal, but what about an internal web page that contains the contacts in the public folder? Your users then go to that page and, since the BB recognizes numbers/emails, click the trackwheel/menu button and you can call/email that person.

been down that road already and wasnt popular, apart from anything its just too slow when you just want to find a contact, not as intuitive as the contacts list.

Will have a look at the mcontacts and see what that offers though

Thanks Berel, just been onto iTrezzo and one of their guys just came back to me, seems like their EPS product for BES will do the public folder sync wirelessly (as well as the normal mailbox contacts)
The app sits on the BES server so you dont need anything on the handsets or client workstations.

Am going to download a trial and check it out, I will post my findings if people are interested?

Right, sorry its been a while folks. been very busy.

I now have ITRezzo running with BES (on same server) it seems pretty good so far and is wirelessly syncing (albeit one way) from public folders down to the blackberry, it basically syncs with exchange and then lets BES do its bit from Exchange to the handheld.

I now have a subfolder in contacts in my mailbox called "itrezzo mcl" and it syncs the public folder (can also do disty lists etc) down to this folder (so you dont end up with all the public folder contacts in your own mailbox contacts.

I've been on a webex with a tech at ITrezzo today doing this, only downside is the one way sync from public folder down to handheld but he said 2 way is coming in the next version. Of course if you want to maintain central control of the public folder contacts (ie: not have handheld users editing/deleting etc) then this wont matter.

I've got the trial running for the next week so if anyone has any questions let me know asap.

You can look at Wicksoft's product as well. to gain access to PFs wirelessly from the BB.

great product, had it setup in my environment a year ago....ONLY issue i had was the SIZE of my BES. Meaning i had over 500 users on one BES and it took a long time for EPS...Ultimately that was resolved due to an old crappy dell server that was replaced with HP class G5 and now BES and itrezzo are great.

ITRezzo is very good and doing what I want, problem for my org is that we have 25 handsets and the price of it is just too expensive to justify the functionality

Default Secondary email from Service Book

Does anybody know where in the BES database that the secondary email service book is. For example, mine is "arthurlandrycf@vzw.blackberry.net" and i can see it in the service book. I would like to populate that (as well as the PIN and PHone number which work now) in a disaster recovery database that will allow us to forward Itrezzo software 3 alternate contact sources instead of 2(Pin and Phone.)

Default 3rd Party App to Sync Public Folders

So personal contacts in your mailbox and a maintained company list in public folders.

I have heard rumours of this coming in BES 5.0 but wondered if anyone knows of a way of doing this now either by something clever or using a 3rd party application?
We use a product called Itrezzo which is a 10! Offeres complete public folder sync, customized by user and by public folder. Works like a charm, low overhead and reasonable!

Good luck!

I have Itrezzo as well. I just upgraded to the newest version and it extracts secondary email addresses and puts them in a database that is centrally updated for disaster recovery purposes. It also extracts CRM information and pushes it to Outlook so that CRM and Contact list(especially blackberries) are up do date. A Godsend and highly recommended
