Back on topic.....is there a list somewhere that shows all the new features that are expected in SP5?

Our mail team is not going to be happy. They were looking to do Domino 8 testing in November with SP5 in place.

Well, what's been reported publically has been:
- Free/Busy information from the device
- Remote search and retrieval of messages (for accidental deletion of messages from device, etc)
- HTML/Rich E-Mail handling
- OTASL implementation (wireless OS upgrades)
With the last two, it will be compatible for OS 4.3.x and above (maybe not OS 4.3.0, but I'm not sure; definitely included with OS 4.3.1, though).
There's a few more surprises planned, as well. This is a HUGE end-user, feature-rich service pack release. This is the first major update since BES 4.0, in terms of end-user visibility and functionality, in my opinion.

The delays do suck. I'm used to it by now. I don't think they have launched a product on time for a long time now. It's no big deal to me. BES SP5 has a lot of features related to devices that wont be out till next year anyway so what's the big deal. I for one would rather have them launch late and have them fix all the issues than getting crappy software that's buggy. Lets hope with all the new features that this version will have been tested and work right out of the box.

Well, this is the first time that I can honestly recall an exact date being given to a product launch in a public format (non-conference, non-NDA meetings, non-internal docs, etc), which is why I'm astonished that it was delayed another quarter.

It's annoying, but what can you do. Well, it is going to be a very slick release with a lot of new (and useful) end user stuff, so it should be worth the wait!

the problem here is that 4.1.4 already has a serious S/MIME memory leak bug that we have been promissed will be fixed in 4.1.5.
so in effect they are delaying fixing an existing bug.

Do the published maintenance releases not address this?

Would I be correct to assume that 5.0 is now, in essence, no where in sight? - And since I already need to do an upgrade (I'm still on 3.6) I shouldn't wait for it and just go to 4.1?

Wow, you're at v3.6? Go to v4.1 now, it's such a huge upgrade of capabilities. We made the move in Feb. How many users do you have?

It was me, Darth. I think you had just dumped your "hands on" workshop because there wasn't anything to do.

Our memory leak was fixed with a fix on the BBagent.exe. It should have been included in the MR releases.

we are running 4.1.4.13 of BlackBerryAgent.exe (to Exchange)
The memory leak we are experiencing relates to users who are S/MIME enabled, they are able to send and receive S/MIME messages on the device however when viewing attachments to S/MIME messages the leak occurs. Just checked one of the BES servers and one BlackBerryAgent.exe process is using 1.8gb. that is after less than a day of running on a server with 100 users (we are restarting all agent processes every night because of this).
which memory leak were you experiencing ? and which version of BlackBerryAgent.exe are you running ?
thanks,

Same problem we had. I am running 4.1.4.19. I had four BES servers, each supporting ~375 users and the CPU utilization was pegged out and Memory was dropping like a stone. I'd check the latest MR release because it should have the corrected version in it. If you are leary about adding the MR you can PM me with your email and I'll send you the two files you need to fix it. (requires stopping BES Controller, copying files, restarting BES Controller).
BTW we had to restart the Controller every few hours because our memory was dropping. The problem we had after restarts was that CPU would climb to 90+% until the BBagents had finished feasting on the 4 GB of RAM. To make a Halloween reference (late) the BB agents were like a pack of vampires sucking the life (memory) out of our servers.

I'm not concerned as far as waiting for the upgrade. My users won't know the difference anyhow.
