SP7 only needed if going to excahnge 2007 SP2 IIRC.
Other wise SP6 MR7 seem to be the best unless the fixes in SP7 and MR1 will help you.

We're at Exchange 2007 for our US BES and moving that direction for the other 3.

There is a bug in SP6 MR4 that is supposed to be fixed in SP7 as well. We have random users who will suddenly be unable to receive email - but they can send and their PIM syncs fine. I called RIM last week and they found the bug 'footprint' in the log files and said I needed to go to SP7.

EDIT: Found the KB for the issue I'm having: KB18549.

As stated in KB18549: You only need SP6 MR7 to solve this problem. SP7 is not needed.

Ahhh.... Maybe I mis-heard when I was talking to T-Support - mistook MR7 for SP7. That's ok, though, I might as well go all the way to SP7 MR1. No plans for BES 5.0 anytime soon anyway.

The latest version of JRE is ok, but the RIM installer is not very clever and might install an older version of the JRE. After the install, you can remove the old version and install the latest version again. That worked for me.

For what it's worth, I just upgraded three boxes in my organization from a mix of 4.1.2 and 4.1.4 to 4.1.7 last night, running against Exchange 2003. It fixed a few big problems (the main being a duplicating calendar item problem when a meeting is updated multiple times), but it also generated a hilarious number of new alerts and errors I have only begun to try to figure out. Ours is a fairly large and not very standardized corporate environment, if yours is too you DEFINITELY want to turn off any external monitoring prior. We use the BES Alerting as well as Foglight (I forgot both), and was averaging a couple hundred e-mails a minute.

Fortunately (knock on wood) as a whole the users are unaware of the change, and messages are still flowing properly.

I upgrade my bes 4.1.6 to 4.1.7 MR1 and it works fine but I can not connect to the MDS Integration services from the Blackberry manager.

I install the SSL certificate to trust it but it can not connect.

Any hint?
