Question Does the 7250 Only support "simple" Ringtones?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all, I'm new to the whole bb thing. Just bought a 7250 running on a Bell Mobility Network. Does the 7250 only support "simple" ringtones? By simple, I mean only being able to play one note at a time? I went to polyphonicringtonez.com and the ringtones sound horrible...Anything I'm doing wrong? Thanks for the help

The ringtones are lame; but think about it:

The blackberry isn't designed to be a mobile concert when it rings. It's a business email device ;) I don't know about you, but I dont want a laser light show and a pink floyd concert happening when my phone rings in front of a customer at a job site. The 7250's "ring 2" suits me just fine .

I've seen phones with crazy LED's blinking all over, and music playing; not a very professional event, especially if you are trying to act professionally ;)

"Hi how are you sir; what seems to be the problem with your network?"

"Well you see." *lights flash, fog machine activates, pyrotechnics go off, 130db concert music plays*

"Sorry about that, it was my girlfriend"

Wirelessly posted (your electric?: BlackBerry7520/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Browser/5.0.3.3 UP.Link/5.1.2.12)

Chris5h used to have a site up with ringtones on it, but I think its still down. I got Mr. Roboto, Roxanne, and Smells Like Teen Spirit. They are simple but they work. If I want dance party usa I will use my i860 with mp3 ringtones.

And a good thing too, all my clients would have to wait till Pink Floyed finished.

And Dark Side of the Moon could take a while.
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida would also cause problems.
I actually did have a clip from Stairway To Heaven when I had a 7100t.

All 16+ minutes, or the short "AM Radio" version?

Thanks for all the replies...I guess you have a point on the business side of things (an ACDC ringtone would probably nix the critical business negotiation ) .

Does anyone know if this is a hardware/firmware limitation or a software limitation (me thinks this is a hardware thing...).

Edit: Typo

Actually the chip set in the device can support far more advanced sound capabilities than RIM implimented.

^ Thank you! I've been wondering whether or not RIM put different silicon in the 7100g for polyphonic ringtones. So, RIM could, theoretically, code polyphonic ringtones into the 7290?

I've got no desire for a Tool concert to break out when my phone rings but the stock rings with my 7100g just aren't as harsh as the ones in the rest of their products.

you can preview the tones via computer then use BB broswer to get them.
