Default Trackball Help no down scroll

Please Login to Remove!

Okay...so its day 2 with my 8900....and I cannot Scroll Down with the trackball.

I installed .168 on my Tmobile 8900 and then a few hours later it started doing this. i played with it for a bit and it started working again for 24 hours...now its not working again.

I've read a few threads on this...and since I am in my 14 day window should I return it or is this possibly a software issue?

I've tried rolling it around for a while to clean it..but no go.

Should I try downgrading the OS and see if it changes? I do not think its a software issue...as every once in awhile It moves down.

Thanks guys...i love the phone so far...but for 300 dollars it should not stop working from 2 days of pocket use!

Try doengrading to the old OS. At least you will be able to determine if it's software or hardware that way.

Yeah that's what i figured....but...i've been rolling the ball around for about 4 hours....and as soon as I wrote this email, bam...its working again. Something is inside the ball/ring assembly blocking the contact. I'm afraid this will be a constant problem though...:(

Anyone else have this problem but not so bad, to where it fixes it self in a second?

Wirelessly posted

Thanks for the thought ndub33 I got it going and no probs last have of the night. It is definately not software related.

I love this phone. Been a long time lurker but took two blackberries to get me typing.

Have a good night.

I find that my 8900's trackball will occasionally refuse to scroll down. I can feel the trackball refusing to physically move in that direction. Up and side to side movements still work, just not down. I have always fixed the problem by either moving the ball around until it works in all directions, or click it a few times to loosen it up.

Is your problem one of it physically not moving, or does the ball move, but the cursor doesn't? I am running 4.6.1.168, which I installed a couple of days ago, and it seems to work fine for trackball and cursor movement.

It's not a software issue. More than likely it's caused by something like dirt or pocket lint. Try canned air or rolling the ball the opposite way. That always works for me

ok...so...its back. The next day, Friday, I was showing my co-worker i fixed it...and BLAM no down scroll. i've called and a replacement is on its way.

I've tried compressed air, rolling it for long periods of time with more pressure than normal to dislodge...nothing works. O

I give up...I put the oem software back on and will have to ship it off...2 week back order though...and the worst part is that I can't scroll down to select a 2nd number for someone!

oh...and for the 3 days i had it...always in the leather pocket...even made sure to stretch it a little so it wouldn't mash the alt or number key.

I also use a jawbone, so the thing is never on my cheek...too bad b/c now i'm just flat out annoyed that I have to wait 3 days for shipping plus 5 days for stock.
