Default How do you soft reset the 8100?

Please Login to Remove!

I've looked online here and in some manuals. The 7100 ALT-CAPS-DEL doesn't work....

Anyone have a simple answer or know of it?

I believe there's a button under the battery that'll do it but let someone confirm that before you go and try it.

Hmm, I hope that was a point at the obvious with some humor... I was looking for the quick way to do it without having to do a power down, remove the back, pull the battery, put battery back in, and replace cover.

This thing has enough bugs to find and squash without needing to take the cover off it 6 times a day just to reset it.

Ha, it really wasn't. Sorry, I hadn't read the manual thoroughly or tried it myself, I just happened to notice that before and was just trying to help. If there's another way, you've got me.

No but I would also love to know. ALT-CAPS-DEL is not working for me.

Doesn't work for me either. I just pull the battery out if I need to reset.

Sorry, the 7100/8100 series BlackBerry handhelds don't have a soft reset function like the full QWERTY device do. Perfroming a hard reset by pulling the battery is your next best option.

The reset button has not been an option since the 7290/7250's.

Zro

The BB 8700 fully supports ALT-SFT-DEL keyboard soft resets.

But the 8700 does not have a reset button on the circuit board like a 7780 does. The 72x0 models have the hole for it, but no button underneath.

Bottom right side? That's for a lanyard if you wanted to attach one to the 8100.

the little hole straight below the SYM key on the bottom edge is the mic.

I would like to know this too. You have all noticed that there is a way to software initiate the reset/restart. Whenever you remove an application, it asks to do so and does it. This means it's possible. Now... how?

Cool

I am saying duh for me! Duh, press the power button and hold. Usually it works for me. And also the pearl usually gives a reset screen when there's an error.

Oh, I thought I was going to feel real stupid... but...

I think holding down the power button, no matter how long, just turns it off.
