Mini Opera for web browsing on mobile devices was announced. I have no experience with its products , but have heard good things about Opera. See link below.

Hi, I tried to use it but to no avail on my 7100v, I do remember some time back some people did manage to just about get it working on the BlackBerry but it was very slow (and a nightmare to navigate on the 7100 models!), who knows maybe it will work ok on the 8700!

Installed on my 8700c - accepted the EULA - seems kinda slow, but it processed and I am loading pages on it now.

- selected large memory install

edit* - this thing is excruciatingly slow - probably why blackberry's weren't listed as supported models.

I do have to admit, the page renderings are pretty bad ass!

Regards,
dolo

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I could get it to install but never got past the first screen. It seemed to require a left softkey to select "Close" in the lower left corner

a hofo user came across this cached opera mini site page from many months back.

http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:...ackberry&hl=en

at one time, blackberry was listed as a supported device, but they are no longer listed. click on the turquoise blackberry highlight to view the current, updated manufacturer/device list.

Tried it. I have to say that the experience was not good. It was hard to figure out what buttons to push to enter addresses etc., and when I finally did enter addresses it was painfully slow. I'm a big Opera fan too so this was very disappointing. One plus side though is the small screen rendering is awesome. Hopefully Opera will release an official BB optimized version.

I asked over at the Opera Mini forums about what happened to Blackberry support. If you want to see Opera work on your BB, chime in over there: http://my.opera.com/community/forums....dml?id=121042

[Edit] Someone from Opera chimed in saying that the BB was never a supported device, so it was nice that someone had found a cached page.

[Edit 2] Well, hopefully they'll support the BB in the future.

I had no luck with opera on my 8700c, and it is a shame. I LOVED the opera browser for the UIQ OS on my SE P900 and would kill to get a version that works on the BB.
