Default New Blackberry with video and Edge proto

Please Login to Remove!

I saw the new blackberry prototype today. It has the same form factor as the 7290 with EDGE a better browser and video capabilities. I was told to expect it in may. Anyone else seen it or heard anything about it.

havnt heard anything. Whats the model number gonna be called?

Also was it video playback only? did it have a camera? I am not sure how the Video would actually be delivered to the device as everything is currently delivered in 2KB chunks and would take ages to do a large video file.

100 to 1 he/she is at WES and saw something they shouldn't post about. Non disclosures are serious documents.

Default I did not see this at WES and have never signed a NDA

It does not have a camera only the ability to playback video which is inline with rogers releasing mobitv. This was just a regular person who had the unit in testing for RIM. Beleive what you want.

This is the same thread at HowardForums....with no new information to substantiate the claim. Back in 2001, just before I worked at Rogers AT&T Wireless - as it was called then - I saw an Ericsson engineer (I asked his importance) carrying a T39m. Internal advertising said Rogers would launch it; as it was in testing the GPRS; 5 months before I actually did just that before official launch.

Long story short, Rogers never officially launched the T39; you claim this device has the same form factor as the 7290 on HoFo. Funny how can you be sure its a new device as apposed to one with much more memory & video clip support with a Java app to display it on a 7290 like device??

I hope your right this device would be nice.....but more info is needed for others to believe you. And "Believe what you will" is just a little childish if your gonna post a new thread about it on a rumor thread.

imho.

All I am saying is I saw a prototype. Never said Rogers would release it or even pick it up. RIM has lots of units that are givin out for testing, and I happened to see one. Its not groundbreaking, the ability to view video, EDGE and a better browser. I've heard about this thing for months. It may never even be produced, but it is being tested.

I have no doubt in my mind that they are testing blackberries with EDGE technology. It would be stupid of them not to at least try it. As far as the video, I have my doubts there. Maybe they were just using video to demonstrate the speed of EDGE devices.

Though, if an EDGE blackberry were developed, I think it would be a big boost in the consumer market and a big advantage. Streaming audio/mp3, picture transfers (with possible an onboard cam in the future), and possible streaming video ala some real-audio type port for blackberry. It would bring blackberries to the average user who wants everything all in one.
