I called CC on the 4th and ordered one no prob. 349 was the price.

FYI that new color is Steel Blue and we should have the extended battery door/battery combo in a couple days. http://store.bizshopr.com/rim-acc-09125-003.html

FWIW, actually the unlock period for T-Mobile is 90 days, 3 months. BBTMO, c'mon now do a Streamline search for SIM Subisdy Unlock FAQ. There's all sorts of interseting stuff there. If you really wanna turn your stomach do a Streamline search for Chris Gordon, ah the honesty of corporate america....

I tried about a week ago at two different T-mo corporate stores in the Dallas Area;- one knew nothing, the other stated that I would have to call CC and that he had many people come in and ask about them. I called CC, asked about upgrading to a 7290, and CC kept pushing the 7100 model.

Had to keep repeating I wanted the 7290 model. In the end it was $349. No upgrade. I have been with T-mo for 5 years...

Default I just rang and ordered from T-Mobile directly.

Shipped in 5 days (though I paid for 3 day shipping) and I'm on the air...
Once they work out the CID problem everything will be fine except their substandard coverage in NYC.

For those of you that are asking questions about unlocking a phone, the only carrier that will do it if you ask is T-Mobile. The only requirement is that you have had your service for at least 3 months (90 days to be exact). Then you call customer care and tell them what you want. They will in turn take down your email and fill out a form and you will recieve the unlock code within 3 days to your email.

D'oh! Terribly sorry. I thought your previous post said 6 months, not 3. Maybe I outta spend more time sleeping and less time on the net.

Default I Own A 7290 And I Have Tmobile

Hello. Just wanted to share that I bought a Blackberry 7290 during the time I had Cingular, and when I switched to Tmobile, I began using the sidekick. Never really got used to the silly Sidekick so I tried taking my sim card out of my Sidekick and put it inside my 7290. I didn't have to "unlock" my Blackberry at all; my 7290 works fine on the Tmobile network and I wouldn't dare use anything else. Just by experimenting and not knowing it would really work, I discovered that the Blackberry can obviously be used on any GSM network. So, if you want to use the 7290 on Tmobile, buy it from a Cingular store and use it on your network! I love it!

Not anymore. As widely reported elsewhere, current Cingular 7290 are network locked to Cingular/ATT.

I got one and had to send it off for unlocking.

Hmmmm. How new was this 7290 of yours? I purchased mine from a Cingular store towards the end of 2004; started using it with Tmobile 2 months ago (April 2004).
