Default 8100 TMo List Theme

Please Login to Remove!

So, it seems I get asked several times a day how to get the TMobile List theme back. After upgrading to 4.2.1 from 4.2.0 on the 8100 the TMobile List theme is changed from a list to a grid of icons. Many folks want the list back. Here is what to do:

On your BB:

Change the theme to any theme besides the TMo Zen theme.

On your PC:

1. Go to the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8100-v4.2.1.107_P2.3.0.83\Java (note: the actual OS version folder may vary depending on which version of 4.2.1 you have installed)

2. Move the file net_rim_theme_100_240x260_b.cod into another folder somewhere (doesn't matter where, but if you save it somewhere else you can install it again later, if desired.) Just make sure it's removed from this folder.

3. Now connect the BB to the PC and run Application Loader. It should remove the above theme. The BB will then reboot.

4. Now download the following file and place it in the same directory as above. (We are essentially replacing the new theme with the old theme.)
http://webpages.charter.net/john.cla..._240x260_b.cod
*Note: This file is a .cod but will download as a .zip file. Change the .zip at the end of the file name to .cod and replace as described above.

5. Now run Application Loader again and it should load the theme again. The BB will reboot once again. You should now have the list theme in the blue background TMo Zen theme.

(The method here is when you remove these .cod files from the java folder and then run application loader the DM says, ok, you don't want that .cod on the BB and will remove it. Likewise, when you add a .cod file to the java folder, if the .alx files allow, it will load the .cod back to the BB.)

Default List theme

I tried this following your instructions but when I get to the App Loader it states that it is installing the 4.2 Core Applications and not the .cod file that I placed in the Java folder. Under themes now, the theme is not there. I've tried this twice now. I did notice that your zip file contained 4 .cod files that I extracted.. should I only have extracted the the top one? Also, I'm on ATT.. does this make a difference?

Wirelessly posted (BB 8860: BlackBerry8320/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Vendor themes are core applications. Just let it load. It will work.

John, I tried this also....no success yet... but, as was stated earlier, does all 4 items need to be extracted to the file?

Ok. Thanks for the heads up. It seems that theme .cod is one of those .cod's that's really a zip file with 4 .cods in it. I changed the instructions above. Simply download the file. It will download as a .zip file. After you download it, just change the extension back to .cod and replace as described (don't extract the 4 separate .cods.) Sorry for the confusion. I've seen that before and didn't think to check the .cod file before posting for download.

Default can't find the folder

I have the latest OS 4.2.1.107

For some reason, I don't have a 'Shared' folder inside of the

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\

Anyone suggestions? I did a search for the .cod file with no luck. I really want my list back.

It sounds like you don't have the .107 OS installed to your PC. Go to TMobile.com and download and install to the computer.

mine only goes to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion
i dont see shared, i tried typing it in also and it doesn't pop up =\

You need the Handheld OS installed to your PC. You can get it from here:

Not that I know of. If you can use Parallels or Bootcamp then you can run Desktop Manager which is required for this installation.

TMo myFaves do not work with old TMo List Theme. A couple weeks ago, I upgraded both my Pearl and my husband's Pearl to v4.2.1.107. My husband has experienced no problems with the upgrade. I, on the other hand, could not get myFaves to work! The only thing I did differently was restore the Tmo List Theme on my phone using the above directions and cod file.

Two problems with myFaves: (1) Main myFav icon stays big when I select other myFaves [not a big deal - I can live with that]; (2) When I select ANY myFav icon and press the green connect button, my call does not connect - my Call Log opens instead.

I tried to no avail: (1) Soft Reset; (2) Battery Pull; (3) Resend service books; (4) Edit myFav contacts thru phone; (5) Edit myFav contacts thru T-Mobile website

The only thing that fixed the problem was to restore the new TMo Zen Theme. I guess I'll just have to get used to the grid of icons.

It's possible that the tmo myfaves modules from the older version would have to be moved over with the list theme. I don't have a myfaves plan so I have no way of testing it.
