Default Blackberry Bold 9000 - Serious Issue

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Guys,

My name is Brad, and this is my first post here, but I have been lurking all day long! Great forum

Here is my problem...

Sunday night, I was at my friend's house and used my blackberry in the morning with no issues. In the afternoon it was running a little slow, and I got the message to delete some apps/close some programs. I've received it many times in the past, not really a big deal. I did a standard battery pull to reset the blackberry. A few minutes later I put it back in, and nothing. The battery was 95% full at the time. Since I have taken the battery out, I have not been able to get it back on. I have tried charging it again, putting the battery in/out, and turning it on multiple ways but still nothing.

I dropped it off on Monday to a local shop...they kept telling me they were trying to back up the data but seemed pretty clueless, and finally today I asked for the phone back and a refund. I ended up buying the loaner phone they gave me (Basic Samsung Flip) instead of refunding me and I'm using this for now. I desperately need my Blackberry working, since there is some important #'s on there, and I need to BBM certain people. I did a back up in January of this year, but there is a ton of stuff I can't afford to lose (my fault).

Does anyone have any idea of where I should start? Any ideas on what to try? I'm willing to try anything at this point.

Thanks guys.

You can try another battery that you know is fully charged. That would mean finding a shop that has BB 9000s in stock. You might also try connecting your BB to your pc with the battery out, opening Desktop Manager, and then reinstalling the battery. Between the power from the USB port and the reboot prompted by reinserting the battery you might get a connection and be able to perform a backup.

What doesn't work? Rambo gave you several options so it would be nice to know what you did and the result of each.

Certainly sounds like the battery to me. Have you let it run below 20% ? Did the device get dropped or get wet ?

Sorry, about that. When I plugged into the USB with no battery nothing happens. I have not tried putting in a new battery, but wouldn't it atleast turn without the battery in? And show the battery icon on the screen? I've definitely let it run below 20% and dropped it in the past, but this battery is fairly new (6 months or less) and never had any issues.

Letting a LI battery dip below 20% regularly will damage it. This has been discussed frequently. I think there is even a FAQ for it.

Maximum Battery Life - BlackBerryFAQ

May not be your particular problem but just sayin

I will order a new battery tonight, as I'm willing to do anything to get the phone up and running so I can back it up, and get it working. Where is the best place to order a new battery? I don't think this is the issue but willing to pay $30 to find out.

Happened to me and if you search the threads, you will see that it has happened to other BB 9000 users.

Why go to the AT&T store and see if they have one that you can try.

Best to get a real OEM replacement, not a knock off from eBay or other places.
