Hi, I am a German Customer (American living in Germany).
I complainded about three weeks ago to TMO that there software is super old.
and now they have finally release an update.

The dumb thing is, I now have v.4.6.282 (Platt. 4.0.0.235) installed now due to a lack of cooperation with TMO.

Would you recommend a Downgrade to this version?

Later
Tim

Wirelessly posted

The reason people upgrading from .282 are recieveing a downgrade message is because the platform version in this is lower than the platform version on .282

Has anyone on at&t done the upgrade yet?

Does this have the 3g off switch?

If not, total deal break. I would stay with .282 at that point.

Do you mean that it removes the option to turn off 3g
or
Do you mean the remove option is there still?

Please clarify...

There is no "remove" option.

He means it removes the option to switch the network from 3G/2G to 2G only.

What are the significant advantages this release has over .282? Is it worth the upgrade? I am very happy with .282, but am always curious when a new release is available.

no bugs, no annoyances
increase of 4mb memory after battery pull.
(54 before .291 and 58 after)

Hey, did you notice that the BlackBerry menu app-switching feature is not present on this version? You know, when you hold down the BlackBerry menu for a second or two, it shows your running apps?

Or is that just me?

Luckily I chose to go back down to .282 from testing the latest 5 beta. I figured that with the platform being lower, there had to be something missing. And that feature is something I've grown to love :P

Presumabily those like me on Rogers who were always able to go to 2G only would not suddenly lose that ability on .291.
I have been running .282 without problems for almost a month, and have upgraded to almost all (if not all) OS upgrades since the original Rogers .126. I am concerned that the platform is a downgrade and will probably not go to .291. Yes I have lots of programs running and can go down to 10meg after a lot of use, but it does not seem to effect actual use. On a previous OS a number of months ago, some programs stated that they could not work because of lack of memory. Free memory was only down to 15meg then. I can't remember which OS it was but I replaced it after a few days. On a battery pull I start with less than 30 meg anyway. However .282 must make memory available as required, because I never have an app refuse to operate because of lack of memory.
I will probably stick with .282.
Where are these releases coming from anyway? Our insiders are not finding them as they don't seem to be showing up on the beta thread. .282 and .289, I do not think ever showed up here in beta.
