Default Bold 9000 unbranding

Please Login to Remove!

I was looking for some bold apps on a torrent site and i found a torrent named Blackberry Bold Unbrander.
It has a readme file with the following content

Quote:
1 Install the MML software onto your computer
2 Copy the additional MML data files to C:\MML - Overwrite all the original files
3 Disable the Internet on your computer
4 Open up MFI and select auto start on and full erase off <-- VERY IMPORTANT!!!
5 Connect your Bold
6 Let it do its thing until you see fail on your screen and you see "no application...(White Screen 504 Error)" on your Bold
7 Unplug your Bold, close and open again MFI and deselect auto start
8 With MFI opened hold on ctl+shift+alt+f12(Takes A Second or Two To Pop up After you release these buttons) and once the hidden menu comes up plug in your Bold
9 Hit "Load VSM" and locate the VSM file
10 Its going to say "VSM Loaded Succesfully" in less than a second
11 Close MFI and on your Bold will say "No Application Linked Factory OS"
12 Install The Included OS(9000M_exe file) Onto Your Computer And Delete The XML. File Located in C:Program Files,Common,Research In Motion,Apploader.
13 Turn on the Internet again and open up Desktop Manager
14 Go on Application Loader and load the OS Included onto the Bold.
NO MORE At&t Rogers Ect. Ect....Enjoy a Unbranded Bold.
Happy Modding.
Any ideas about the release ?Should I try it ?I have a vodafone branded bold (unlocked)....

Regards,
Andrei

This has been discussed in depth here. I've used it many times to unbrand AT&T devices so that we can have the option of selecting 2G manually.

Is there a reason you're looking to unbrand your device?

Also, once you do that, you will lose the ability for your internal memory and microSD card to be read as a Mass Storage device. There is a batch file fix that is floating around as well to correct the issue. You might want to search for that if you're thinking of unbranding.

Will you still be able to connect your microSD to your computer, and copy to and from it? Will the bold still be able to use the microSD? Can you provide a link to the batch file?

We don't provide any links to this software. It's unauthorized and not made for use by the general public.

The "process" just disables USB mass storage mode. That means if you plug the device into your pc it won't be recognized as a disk drive. It can be reenabled but you have to have the software to do it.

Using this software if you don't know what you are doing can render your device completely useless and warranty voided.

Yes, I am, although some believe I need another week of quarantine.

There is not the network model(2G/3G/2G&3G) in my ATT bold, would you kindly tell me how to solve it?

Thanks!

As discussed above, in order to manually switch between 2G and 3G on an AT&T Bold, you must unbrand the device. However, per forum policy, the process nor links to the process can be discussed here.

It is possible to re-enable the mass storage..

follow the following commands to re-enable it:
Hold down alt+SHIFT+H together, This will bring you into an engineering screen
Select OS Engineering Screen
Select USB
Select Port Information
Change option on Mass Storage(MS) to Enabled
Also make sure its enable in your settings.

This should fix your problem. For some reason the unbranding of your phone disables this feature.

As I have been told in other threads that you will have to use the engineering VSM when you unbrand your phone. I'm being told that alt+SHIFT+H brings up help. I think its because dial from home screen is not turned on. would be interested to know.

That screen only comes up if you use the Engineering VSM. It will not come up with vendor VSM files, no matter if dial from home in on or not. The only way to get it to work is to use the batch file fix.

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

That screen can be brought up on any device but a code must me generated in order to open it. Otherwise you just get a "Help Me" screen not the engineering screens.

I never had to generate a code to use mine? What code are you talking about?

I had a unlocked phone and before I debranded I was able to do this with no issues
