I see it on my unbranded Bold, if I'm in Mobile Network and press Menu, however; when I click on My Preferred Network, it says "No SIM". I'm putting my AT&T SIM in right now to see what it says.

It's no longer available when I put the AT&T SIM in the BB.

Ran across what I think is the methodology for doing this, however I'm too damn nervous I'd nuke my brand new Bold! Interesting information nonetheless!

Don't pm me asking for links either folks.

Don't be nervous! It's like a PC, it can always be formatted and reloaded.

Someone already put on here where to go and it was deleted by a Mod, because it is against BBF policy to post links or directions to illegal or BETA software. Please edit your post, removing the directions on where to go, and be careful what you post.

By the way, it was you that posted the directions earlier. Didn't you notice that the directions in your original post were deleted? Didn't it make you think, "I guess I'm not suppose to say that" ??

I didn't take any credit for anything, I simply didn't say how I did it.

Anyway, sorry I made a typo in my Spanish, but since you're wanting to be a prick about it, you can get stuffed.

Again, I took no credit for the work, I just didn't say how I did it for the reasons mckinneycm mentioned. I'm also not sure how I'm bossy.

I did the research too... I now finally have FULL use of my ATT Bold over in Kuwait. What a PAIN in the arse this was though! And when ATT calls me back on Sunday to continue troubleshooting with the local carrier, I'll switch back to 2G & 3G mode so they can run traces on my phone...

In any case, thanks to the few elite (hah) folks on here for some not-so-specific direction.

For the record, I wouldn't really recommend this procedure for most people. If you are a tinkerer and can't leave well enough alone, then why not? I voided my warranty out of necessity as far as I'm concerned. I needed to have FULL use of my Blackberry while over here in Kuwait - and I couldn't wait for AT&T to sort things out with the local carrier. Just so you know, you *can* render your phone useless if you mess with the wrong parts of the wrong programs. I have a company issued phone and also happen to be the BES Admin... so if I break my phone, I just order a new one and hang this one up on my BB wall of shame. Just some words to the wise... in the end, I'm living proof that we'll all do what we want anyways.

For clarity, so after you unbranded your phone, you get 2g/3g selection, BUT if you put an ATT sim card in the phone, the 2g/3g select is gone, correct?

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

No, I believe the option stays no matter what sim is installed.

Thanks, but is anyone sure? I'm going to it today, and the process is a bit scary. I don't want to do it for naught...

I am 100% sure. I have both an at&t and a T-Mobile card, and the option is there with both.

I'm sure. He was referring to the "My Preferred. Network List" that disappears when the ATT sim is inseeted. The 2g/3g switching is controlled by the devices vendor code.

Got it. Thanks for clarifying.

Last question, when going through "the process", it looks like the phone gets unlocked too, is that correct?
