First, let me say I have thoroughly enjoyed using my Bold. It is great. I am so glad I made the switch from the HTC TILT and I absolutely love being apart of this very active community.

Secondly, I have a WinXP SP3 netbook (ASUS Eee PC, N270, 2GB RAM) that i have set up to tether to my 9700 via USB and Bluetooth very successfully.

Both work great and I like the convenience of no cable with BT, but it seems that on days I use the cable the download speeds are faster than with BT. Mind you this is my impression and certainly not scientifically based.

That brings me to my question. Have others experienced this? I believe the theoretical throughput for BT should exceed my download/upload speed via 3G. Am I wrong? Could I be limiting my connection speeds because of using BT? How could I test this?

i just did a quick search and it looks like the data throughput of BT is on the slow side. its actually slower than what 3G is capable of. so i would say that yes your choking your data connection by using BT. but it sure is convenient being wireless
