I know this is an older thread, but in case anyone is interested in the real authentic Tetris game, it is available. Concrete Software created the game and it is distributed by Handmark - I'm sure it is sold all over by now, but for sure you can get it from the Handmark website.
After trying the free version from hakore (which I thought was very nicely done and very easy to install) and finding it just a little too slow on my Pearl, I paid $20 for the Handmark version and it is well worth it. It is a very faithful port and the gameplay is very smooth. I haven't delved into the scoring algorithms etc...but I trust that they are satisfactory. I had to click a button to request an SMS link to the download, but as soon as I realized this and clicked it, the SMS came in a matter of seconds. My only complaints are that Handmark does not take Discover card and the music is not what I remember from the Nintendo version, maybe that's asking too much from a game I will play with the sound off 99% of the time, but I really liked the music that came with the Gameboy version.
